great customer service !!!
Great music, great atmosphere
Awesome atmosphere. Great service!
I lived in the shadow of Opryland for 14 years and never tried this place. There was just no way a bar in the most touristy part of Nashville was going to serve acceptable food amidst the city’s legendary culinary scene. Right? Ironically, after moving away a decade ago, I finally went to Scoreboard. I wasn’t impressed. But their hot chicken kept appearing on top 10 list after top 10 list, touting it among the best spicy fried chickens in the very town that birthed this dish. Maybe I missed something. I really needed to give this another shot. So here I am. The fried pickles are a good, maybe a 3.5 out of 5, probably not a 4. The batter is reminiscent of catfish breading which makes for a worthy appetizer. The french fries are definitely fresh cut, judging by the beautiful potatoey essence. But they aren’t that perfect combination of crispy exterior and tender interior, so I’d give them a 3. And then … the main attraction. Having eaten at all 47 existing hot chicken joints in Nashville, and making an award-winning version of this at home, I feel uniquely qualified to judge this famous dish. And I feel bad for tourists who think this is authentic. It’s not even close. Here are my four criteria: *Crispiness 5 *Juiciness 4.5 *Chicken quality 3 *Spices 1 Weighting all categories equally, that’s a dismal average of 3.4 which pales in comparison to the dozens of local options that exceed a 4.5 rating. The biggest knock against the dish is that the spicing is all wrong. Rather than the traditional sweet heat you’ll find in Nashville that arises from the perfect amalgamation of chili powder, cayenne, brown sugar, and other spices, the batter has a very salty, beefy flavor like I’ve never tasted. It’s unique, but not in a good way. At least Scoreboard has mastered the art of keeping the chicken juicy, since many restaurants botch this. But the quality of the chicken itself is noticeably substandard, and that was a second strike. For locals, Scoreboard is just another mediocre experience. For tourists looking for convenience, it’s good enough.
My friends and I ate lunch/drinks at Scoreboard Bar & Grill. The music was great. Staff was attentive. Food was delicious! I would definitely recommend the Scoreboard Bar & Grill for music and good food!
If you like drinking and listening to music this is probably a good place to be. If you are looking for good barbeque this place will probably disappoint. We had the smoked sampler which consisted of pulled pork and chicken, smoked sausage, Texas style brisket, ribs, baked beans, cole slaw, and cornbread. The ribs were the best, they had a good smoked flavor and the sauce was decent. But the ribs had a lot of fat and gristle. The brisket had little flavor and was very fatty. The chicken and pork really lacked flavor. It did not seem like either was seasoned and the pork tasted a little watery. The sausage had a really mild flavor and tasted more like it was grilled than smoked. The beans were ok but again lacking real flavor to make them special. The cole slaw was ok but a bit watery. The cornbread was like a flattened hush puppy that had been over fried. It was a bit hard to byte in to and was very dry. Even the barbeque sauce they provide with the meal was just ok, nothing special. Overall, this was below average BBQ that really lacked seasoning and flavor. On the plus side the staff was friendly and the food came out quickly.
Loved the atmosphere - reminded us of a beach joint. Very laid back, great music and very good food. Good stop after the redneck comedy bus tour, or the Opry.
We actually went here twice in one day. We stopped in for lunch and had great food and Brandon was an attentive server. Then in the evening, after attempting to spend the evening at Music City Bar & Grill, across the parking lot, we came back to The Scoreboard because of the awful service over there. The band here at the Scoreboard was so much better, our server was awesomely attentive & cheerful (complete opposite of the young lady at Music City), and the vibe is great! We ordered some apps and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves! Highly recommend The Scoreboard!
My teenage sons wanted some more live music after the Opry and this place was suggested by our hotel hostess. Live music was awesome—definite bar scene and probably would have been a little rowdy as the night went on but fun for post Opry. It was an outside area seating.
We are just driving through Nashville and happened across Scoreboard. Went in without any expectations, but was hoping for some TN charm. We were really happy with everything. Our server Paige was very friendly and accommodating to my family's odd variety of food allergies. She was quick to offer great suggestions including a gluten free pizza with one half without sauce that my boys could share. They loved it - didn't taste like it was GF at all. My wife had the chicken and waffles and thought that was great too. Crispy / tender chicken and waffles that tasted sweet like fair food. I went with the Philly Beef (can't remember the name but had Irish in it). That was super good too. Afterwards we walked up to check out the live music and enjoyed some really well done Bob Marley covers. My one suggestion would be to add a kids menu, but beyond that we loved it all. If we're back through Nashville I'd be happy to check it out again.
