Great food! SLowww service. Came in on a Friday night at 6:00 and the place was dead. Our waiter came by and asked us if we would like something to drink so we ordered our drinks. It took 30 minutes to get a Dr Pepper, I seriously think he forgot we even ordered drinks because we had to ask him again.Fast forward to our sushi, that was the only great thing about our dinner. The sushi was on point, and very delicious. We once again had to flag down our waiter to get our check, and he said “I have four tables and it’s very chaotic” the place was dead!! I don’t think he’s cut out to be a waiter, because if that’s chaotic, I’d hate to see the place slammed. Do yourself a favor if you want some sushi call in a carry out order don’t go and dine inside the place unless you like having to flag down your waiter.

Frankly, I can't think of anything negative to say about Samurai. I have eaten there several times and while they were a bit disorganized when they first opened the experience now is very positive. The staff is always polite, the food comes out fast and most importantly, it always tastes great. The place stays moderately busy but I've never had an issue getting a table and, because of the speed of the service, the are able to handle a rush of customers. Perhaps my only comment is that I don't think they are using their bar top to its full potential, but that's just me being nitpicky.

Absolutely insanely delicious! The raw fish just melts in your mouth and every roll we tried was crazy good!! I will absolutely be going back!!!!

On My Birthday I decided to try a solo trip here for lunch on a Friday. At noon I was the only person in the restaurant, which should have been a clue. Ordered a roll with ‘very light’ (emphasized twice) on two topping sauces & the salmon carpaccio. I am pretty sure there was a language barrier as they put extra sauce on my roll and brought sides of the same sauce. Also they asked if I wanted extra of a spicy sauce on the salmon which was not even listed in the menu description, I declined it. I tried to eat a few bites of the roll but whatever was inside was super over cooked. They did credit me back for the roll and the service was generally friendly. Maybe go for dinner -I have seen good reviews for that. 3.5 overall for me

I always eat at Marus but it’s closed on Sunday so I thought I’d check this place out. We ordered off the menu. 20 minutes after we placed our order, one of the chefs came out and asked how to make the roll. We left. I’ll be sticking to Marus bc they have the best sushi in Nashville anyway.

Edit: Their amazing chef has moved on to a different location. The menu has been really scaled back, and unfortunately this place no longer stands out. The sushi is still good, but nothing special. I'm glad I could experience it when it was great! Below is my original review.Best sushi I've had in Nashville. This is a totally different experience than the other Samurai sushi places in town. The others were very good, but this was amazing. It all comes down to their star chef they brought in. I hope he stays there for a while. One thing to note is they don't currently offer anything other than apps, sushi, and shashimi while they configure the cooked kitchen meals. I heard that will be operational in a few weeks. We will definitely be back!

Honestly worst service I have ever experienced in a restaurant. Clearly they lost our order. We raised concern after people that sat way after us were served before us. Waitress came talked to us like we were being impatient even though I felt like we were being polite and just wanted to know that status of our food. After an hour one dish was brought out, but not the other. After waiting another 15 mins we were forced to walk because other people were being served. I understand that food and beverage can be a very face paced and stressful job but honestly there was only 6 tables in the restaurant and we were there a total of an hour and 20 mins.

They are so sweet. They took our order as they were closing and even gave us a gift. Since moving from Florida I have been hesitant to eat inland sushi but this place is AMAZING. I’m so glad to have a go to sushi spot now.

This was our favorite in town but it looks like they have a new chef and it is simply not the same. Not sure what happened but the chef removed all his awards off the wall leaving empty nails in their place.

I appreciate that the chef was willing to let us order off menu (we wanted simple salmon roll which is not on the menu), but the sushi itself was just okay. We ordered several specialty rolls, which were good, but the cooked roll we had was quite oily. The spicy edamame is quite good though. The quality at this Samurai did not match up to the (currently closed) one on Elliston.
