I love their Tamales and Pupusas. The staff was great.
We were staying in an Airbnb nearby looking for a place for dinner that was not a chain restaurant; something that is becoming harder and harder to find. We chose this Pupusiera because we were not very familiar with El Salvadoran good, and we love trying different food. It’s not a fancy place, two walls of booths, a few tables and a counter. The staff was very friendly, and our waitress walked us through what the dishes were. We settled with an order of chicken Pasteles, and 2 combo platters featuring pupusa, a tortilla with meat and cheese cooked inside the dough, served with a slaw, a choice of sauces, and refried beans. It’s beyond the scope of a review to explain el Salvadoran food, but the food was excellent, the staff was friendly and took good care of us, and it was an inexpensive meal. It’s a different flavor from Mexican food, but very very enjoyable. If you’re in the area, please stop in and try their food.
Food here is a 5/5. I didn’t realize pupusas could be this delicious with just a handful of simple ingredients. These are small tortilla-like breads stuffed with pork and cheese. The simplicity of the ingredients paired with the excellent green hot sauce and vinegar cold shredded cabbage makes for an excellent experience.I had both their pupusa revuelta as well as the pupusa y chicharron. While both were good, I preferred the chicharron one more since it had crispier pieces of pork and had more fat content.I tried a little bit of their pupusa with loroco. It had a distinctly different smell and flavor, and it wasn’t something I would get again since it wasn’t as good as the others. If you are really hungry, go with 3 pupusas. If you aren’t ravenous, 2 will be a decent amount. They serve a small ramekin of a coleslaw that has some vinegar and sugar. I found that having this with the pupusa and green hot sauce was perfect. You would get the heat from the sauce, the chewy and savory flavors from the pupusas, and then the sweet, tart, and crunch from the veggies. The ONLY reason I even take away one star is from the cleanliness of the establishment. When looking under tables, this place left a lot to be desired in terms of cleanliness. The biggest issue was that I saw the biggest cockroach that I’ve ever seen, just walking through the restaurant like it owned the place. Thankful I only noticed this AFTER my meal. This was easily a 3-inch cockroach.Overall, I would come here again, maybe to take-out next time just to avoid running into any bugs. The food is exceptional though.
Diliciosas pupusas
I once went twice in one day because the papusas were that good. GO!
Taste of the food was good. Cleaning is terrible...they would improve a lot with this detail.
Awesome. Great food. Just go.
Best pupusas to enjoy! Friendly service and yummy pastry... check them out.
Taste. Fresh. Homemade from scratch. Very pleasant waitress.
Love this place, service, and food! Add sweet tea to the menu to get 5 stars!
