A much needed break from the “bar food” on Broadway. The down home fried pork chops and squash casserole were the absolute best.
My daughter and myself ate at Monell’s and the food was very good. The seating arrangement not so good. I don’t have a problem eating lazy Susan style but they sat us at a table with all college kids that didn’t have very good manners. They passed the food among themselves and then sat it down and so we spend a lot of time asking to please pass the food if there was anything left in the bowl which most of the time there was not so we had to wait for the server to come around. So all in all the food was not worth what we paid for it. Not sure I would eat there again.
We decided to eat at Monell’s at the manor based on a recommendation from a friend. If you like southern style cooking the way grandma used to do it, this is your place. We enjoyed the historic building, the food and our experience. If you want to sit alone this isn’t your place, if you love hanging with others then stop on by! Fantastic food and the chicken was amazing!
We were looking for a breakfast place and just happened to find Monell's. What a great experience! You're sharing a table and all the food with other people. Its all you can eat and as the dishes arrive, you pass them to the left. Food was great, service was great and the whole experience of eating family style and getting to know new people was fabulous!

We heard about meat + 3 for the first time in Nashville. It's family dining with home cooking with other guests at the same table. We were joined by a family from Miami, whose son just graduated in Vanderbilt. An unique and fun experience!
This place is definitely an experience. They have specific breakfast, lunch and dinner times. It's all you can eat but you sit family style with other guests. It's a great way to get to know people and have conversations with strangers. Phones are not allowed go be used at the table. The food was delicious, we had a traditional southern dinner that had plates from fried chicken, pulled pork to potatoes, greens, banana pudding, etc (wide selection). You pass the dishes one way to other guests and take what you want to eat that way (just as if you're a family!) The drinks were good, we had lemonade, water, unsweet and sweet tea.I go here everytime I'm in Nashville.
This spot is Nashville quintessential! They usually combine different groups to fit a long table, food is served in generous portions in family style. We had lunch here and they served 2 types of bread, fried chicken, BBQ ribs, meatloaf and an uncountable number of sides. Everything was delicious and very homecooked. I would highly recommend it.
Loved the social and family atmosphere! Such a lovely, welcoming restaurant. The hostess was so sweet and accommodating. I’ll definitely be back the next time I’m in Nashville. Thanks for the awesome dining experience!
I came to this restaurant because of the good reviews. But when we asked for a table, we would have been forced to sit at a table with other people and share their food. There were lots of empty tables. In the world of COVID, this is a very unsafe practice. I didn’t know family dining meant eating other people’s food. It was very uncomfortable.
