Went to this restaurant on Sunday. I’ve been sick since. I ordered the hot whiting fish, macaroni and cheese, cabbage and Carmel cake. I should’ve known something was wrong when the fish smelled fishy. Fish was fried good and seasoned well. I think that it was maybe left out and spoiled. Mac and cheese was very basic like it came out of a box. Cabbage was not seasoned at all but cooked to a good consistency so not over cooked at all, just no taste at all. Carmel cake was delicious, I would go back only for a slice of cake only. The cake is the only reason for a two star instead of one.
Fantastic food and wonderful service. All of our hosts showed great hospitality, the location was clean and well run. My father in law wisely stated that the food tasted like “home away from home”. The sweet potatoes were especially good! Silky and sweet, every selection we had was great❤️
When my husband says to write a review, the food is very good. Catfish, mashed potatoes and brown gravy, and green beans for him, country fried steak, mashed potatoes and brown gravy, and macaroni and cheese for me. Both were delicious but especially the catfish which was the best he’s ever had. We both highly recommend this place.
Looking for a place to eat southern cuisine before hitting the road. Family of four and we all enjoyed our entrees. Catfish platter, whiting platter, shrimp & grits, and fried chicken salad. All were delicious but the star at the table was the catfish…good clean flavor. Side dishes were good too, sweet potatoes/turnip greens/mac n’ cheese/corn nuggets/corn bread. Got desserts, red velvet cake & strawberry cake but too full to eat so we will enjoy on the road. Employees & Ms. Hattie were very pleasant to all the customers and lots of regulars there too. If you are looking for simple down home soul food cooking, H & T is a spot to check out.
My husband and I were in town and wanted some good soul food. We had recommendations but decided to look at reviews before deciding. We decided on H&T’s. Being a woman who is a good cook, I can say the food was excellent! I had the chicken and dressing, green, sweet potato patty and my husband had fried catfish, white beans and greens. We both were satisfied. The catfish was freshly fried to perfection. The dressing moist and well flavored, greens good, white beans flavor with ham hocks! I highly recommend this place. It was definitely familiar tasty, comfort food and prices reasonable. I complimented the owner and she was very gracious. Blessings on your business!
I've said it once and I'll say it again best home cooking place in South Nashville if you feel differently let me know because I just don't believe it you're going to have to show me I'll be there just get the day you know that's always randomly kind of just drop in I noticed a few staff changes but the main lady I believe the owner of their she's always sweet and helpful the food was absolutely phenomenal and whoever the other people worried that I had never seen before they were definitely nice
Amazing!! The hot chicken is HOT ?, the catfish was amazing, Ms Hattie is super nice. The sweet potatoes goes perfectly with everything....loved the green beans, cabbage and Mac n cheese...the cake was moist, I had chocolate and carmel..Carmel... I am overall super happy and satisfied
I really enjoy this restaurant. Truly a soul food restaurant with all of the fixin's, so much to choose from!! My favorite is the chicken and dressing because it's hard to find good chicken and dressing in Nashville. The staff is so nice, efficient and the owner is a sweetheart. ?everyone is welcome I love this place!
Great catfish and turnip greens probably the best soul food place you'll find in the area especially if you're just visiting
This is absolutely not home cooked food the fried chicken had no seasonings at all. It tasted as if it was fried sat out then fried again. Very thick breading. The Mac and cheese taste like it was velveta cheese or some watered down substance. Oh and the okra was out of the freezer and straight into the fryer. Wow I’m from Mississippi is this by far is the worst so called home cooking.
