When I tell you this is the best tasting, best seasoned, perfectly cooked, burger I have ever had in my entire life… fries? SEASONED. Burgers? SEASONED. KETCHUP?! SEA.SONED. This should be the standard. 15/10
Nashville is an epic place when it comes to Southern cuisine. But we have an increasingly strong hamburger game since The Pharmacy came to town in 2011. The original Grillshack in East Nashville opened in 2013 and just made Nashville an even better burger destination. This Grillshack offshoot in the heart of Salemtown arrived in late 2019, conveniently located just blocks from I-65. Place an online order and it'll be ready as soon as you arrive. Grillshack is meant to be a hole-in-the-wall burger joint serving simple, delicious food. It's simplicity with nothing fancy, just a solid patty with Muenster cheese and separate toppings of lettuce, tomato, raw onion, and pickles you can add yourself. The quality of their food is evident. Even the bun is spectacular, produced by local Charpier's Bakery. Their beef comes from highly rated Bear Creek Farm in Williamson County. It's a locally sourced burger from top to bottom. The thick, large french fries are made fresh inhouse on a daily basis. That quality certainly shows. Slightly salty, perfectly tender, this is a great side that comes with all burgers. After all, the franchise began as a food truck called Über-Tüber Hand Cut Fries years ago and only started serving burgers when they became Grillshack. So of course, they've mastered the art of making fries. The ranch and blue cheese dipping sauces are perfection (you get two on the house). I wouldn't call this the best burger in town, and it's 9% more expensive than the basic burger at The Pharmacy. So it's not dirt cheap despite the concept of simplicity. But you're paying for very good beef, and I'd say this spot is certainly worth visiting for its straightforward American food.
Favorite burger place in Nashville! Grab a burger and fries, go to Shelby park (right down the street), and enjoy the best burger in town by the water! This place never disappoints!

I like that most places offer meat alternatives. Had the impossible with the fries. I liked the burger because it was simple but the fries were great. It can hard to find places that do hand cut fries and also cook them correctly.
Yum. Burger was thick and cooked just right. Fries were seasoned just right. Staff stopped to ask how my food tasted and were very cordial.

Who says you have to go to a fancy sit down restaurant for a good meal. THIS PLACE IS ????!!!! The burger was well seasoned and full of flavor. The fries are something else!!! SO GOOD!! This picture really doesn't do it justice. Give this place a shot! You won't regret it!!
Grillshack is a casual no-frills environment - perfect bicycling destination conveniently located next to my barber-shop - with 3 outdoor tables and a few indoor tables. Clean single-stall bathroom. Order at/pick up from a window that opens to their outdoor deck. No table-service that I know of. Mom 'n Pop neighborhood feel, not big-box experience.I had a Grillshack burger with fries, my kids added bacon and my wife had the veggie burger - smiles all round. Adequate portion sizes with better than store-bought fries, greens and pickles etc on the side served in bio-degradable packaging. Self-service napkins, Ketchup/Spicy Ketchup & Mayo packets outside.It would be nice if there was cutlery next to the ketchup, and a complimentary self-serve water dispenser outside. No bike-rack, so tied our bikes off on a railing.I'll come back here before Shake Shack any day.
