Even though they are extremely busy at mid day meal, my order was taken promptly and the food was served quickly. So very good! I had the black bean nachos with rice. The sauce really gives the dish a unique twist.
I found this place as an opportunity to taste calaloo, since my partner is Jamaican. I was excited to experience a new tasty meal. Upon arrival I was treated well and the staff was friendly unfortunately it does not make up for the food. I ordered the chicken nachos as an appetizer and the chicken was noticeably old. It had the taste of back of the refrigerator. We did not eat it and still looked forward to our meal. My mate ordered the Jerk chicken (dark), of course with calaloo. The “jerk” chicken was actually baked chicken with a sauce that tasted like grounded shoelaces with a dash of season. He decided not to indulge but instead took the sauce that came with my meal, the island burger. The sauce was similar to the sauce that came with the nachos and he enjoyed it. Now to talk about the “island burger” it was … well let’s just say the bread was soft. I am so dissatisfied with my visit to the restaurant I decided not to eat anything other than one bite from the “garbage burger” and my what tasted like collard greens(calaloo). While writing this review we noticed The server used the broom and did not wash her hands prior to taking a plate to the guest. Yuk!! It made me question every single procedure in the place. I will never be back and I do not want a gift card or offer to give it another try! Oh and I paid for my bill even though I did not eat ANYTHING AND GAVE MY SERVER A TIP(not the server fault). Hands down if I could leave no stars for my experience it would be more accurate than one star.. now let me go regurgitate the little food I did eat.
We love Calypso! I have been going here my whole life. The food is great and fruit tea is excellent with the Cuban/Caribbean/Jamacian inspired cuisines. I get the quarter white with their bbq sauce (not an American bbq sauce), black beans, sweet potatoes, and corn muffins! Their prices are great too, very reasonable. ☺️It does get quite busy around lunch time and sometimes the parking gets full so be aware of that during the rush - so many people come here for lunch because they love it too!I always forget to take a photo of my meal when I come because it’s so good I just start eating ? Next time I will take photos and add to the review! Thanks Calypso!

This place HAS IN THE PAST had a great veggie burger. But current menu shows a veggie sandwich - no protein at all. I asked about the past veggie burger and was told those were not being offered currently, but hopefully they will return again. In general, the current menu is a shadow of their previous menu which had great options, but alas, not available now. I got the idea that the missing items would LIKE TO BE RETURNED but thanks to staffing shortage until the staff comes back up to prior year's, ee are out of luck. ?
Just so grateful this one location is still open. Love their food everytime.
I always love visiting Calypso Cafe and having a black bean salad with white chicken. This is such a yummy salad!! I couldn’t tell you what other things are on the menu because this is my absolute favorite!! The staff are so efficient and this is a well-oiled machine!!

I have loved this place for many years. If 20+ is many than that is a true statement. Menu stays consistent and the food is always good. Staff takes care of business so it's all good.
