My family and I went to Opry Mills and decided to go to Bavarian Bierhaus to eat before leaving. We had had a great experience in 2018, so we figured that it would be a good place to eat due to the fact we hadn't eaten there in 4 years. We were very wrong in thinking it would be a good place to eat at. While it was truly terrible, I do advise not taking it as what it is like all the time, as we were going on a busy day with a smaller number of employees than usual working there. We decided to purchase some chocolate and biscuits from the "souvenir" shop in the front. Little did we know, the chocolate and biscuits would be the best part of going there. We sat down and waited for our food to arrive, expecting that it would taste just as great as it had 4 years before. Eventually, it did indeed arrive. We ordered 4 dishes, 1 for each member and a pretzel to share. I ordered their "German mac and cheese" and it was horrific. First of all, the top had these fried bits that were a mystery. We were unable to tell if they were onion or potato or whatever else could be made into those. The chicken it came with had different levels of cooking in different spots, some being undercooked. It looked and tasted as if it was re-heated. The macaroni itself was the only "good" part about it. One of us ordered a cucumber salad. It was absolutely terrible in my personal opinion. Even our waiter seemed to be suggesting that we should not get it, mainly by saying "it would taste better with (insert item)." It was really dry for us, and the neighboring party said theirs's had too much dressing and/or sauce. Another one of us ordered the Currywurst and it was also terrible for reasons I have sadly forgotten as of writing this review, a whole day after. The pretzel had only one good quality going for it and that was the bier cheese. The pretzel itself tasted even worse than Kroger brand pretzels that you can get for $1. The best dish we got at our table was the Reuben Sandwich, and even though it was the best, it still wasn't great. We had one dish that I can't even remember the name of or find on the menu, and it was, just like the others (except for the Reuben) terrible. I believe it was the Lachsfilet but I am guessing currently. Anyways, the person in our party who ordered it fell ill not long before we decided we wanted to leave. The person who ordered it then proceeded to leave and (their words, possibly exaggerated) VOMIT IN AND/OR AROUND THE PARKING LOT! The bill was incredibly high for such low quality food. Even after having a good chunk of the items removed, it still cost $84 to $89. A person, who I believe as of writing was the manager, was not very polite. One of the members of our party actually works in the food and hospitality industry spoke to the "manager." Instead of trying to find a solution, from the information I have the manager instead got snarky with them. They later came and asked us if we wanted boxes for our food. We left not too long after. There was a woman in the party next to us who was literally FROM GERMANY and even she absolutely hated the food. Overall, this may have been due to a busy day without the usual number of workers, but I would recommend being cautious when going to the Bavarian Bierhaus.
Stationed in Germany for three years. Look is somewhat like they where when I was there. The food was good but nothing spectacular. Service was excellent, a young man from Armenia. This has to be an on vacation, forget the budget and go once place. Let me assure you, this retired Tennessee college administrator can’t stand the prices in our budget. Thought it was terribly overpriced. Lunch bill was more than we typically spend at a nice restaurant for dinner on a special occasion. This will be a one time experience.
My daughter and I don't get many chances to meet for lunch, so when we do, we always want it to be at a pleasant restaurant, with good food and an uncrowded dining area, so we can talk and enjoy our meal. Today, we ate at the Bavarian Beirhaus for the first time. What a nice place, with plenty of room, fast and friendly service, knowledgeable staff who actually WANTED to help, and a menu with more than enough choices! We really enjoyed it, and we will definitely be back again! PS--the prices are fair, for the quality and quantity of the food! Oh, and don't forget to try the German pretzel!
We were so excited to have our family reunion members meet up for a german night out. Well, we got the German Food (excellent meal), we got the German looking atmosphere (big tables and big hall), service was great, and then came the lack luster music. I think they only played three german songs and one because we requested it. Disappointed. We were looking for the whole German experience and only got part of it. They would do so much better if they had someone there that played German music and the polkas and cheers. What a Shame. Don't think we will be back.
The food was good with live music and dancing. The beer on tap was also great! Would definitely eat here again.
Having lived in Germany for 8 1/2 years and enjoying October Fest, Bad Canstaat Fest, Wurst Fest in Bad Durkheim, etc, etc, you are not even close to being "authentic". I would have left when told you don't even have menus, which I assume is because of COVID. You have jumped on the bandwagon of offering substandard service because of a purported pandemic. Not only no menus, no check so I can see what I am being charge for. The waiter was incompetent, impatient, you name it, et al. The beer was OK, but many craft breweries do a much better job. The schweinhaxe was OK, but the spaetzle was not even close to being edible. Having read the history of how the two owners started this were former soldiers, I really looked forward to dining there. I am a retired Master Sergeant since 1979. You are lucky to be in a tourist area, because I'm sure you don't get much repeat business. If you happen to get to Colorado Springs, eat at the Edelweiss which I consider to be the best example of an authentic German restaurant I have found in the USA.
Gotta say, when we first walked in the door from the parking lot, we were a little put off by the hostess leaning over the counter and exposing her entire bottom half to whoever walked in, but whatever. We arrived a little early for our reservation, and were seated right away. Our waitress did take a long time to get to us, and by that time we had decided to order through the QR code on the table. We only saw our waitress one time after that, and had to wait for our food to come to ask for refills on our drinks. We ordered the shanks and sausage platter, and the food was pretty decent. I don't have experience with authentic German food, so I can't be the best judge on that. I did enjoy the cucumber salad and potato salad. I do prefer hot German potato salad, but the flavors were still there and good. We did also order the Rueben egg rolls, and they were okay, although very greasy. The decor inside and even outside is very well done, and beautiful. I'm not sure we'd go back again if we were ever in the area, but it was worth to try once! We don't drink beer, so maybe we missed out on some of the experience.
Beer and music
We are from out of town visiting and have our dog with us. He is my baby and I love taking him with me as much as possible. I wish I got our servers name because she was amazing!! We tried several different foods on the menu and loved all of them. My husband is a beer drinker and our waitress threw out several suggestions and they were all great! She even brought my pups a big bowl of water. The service we received here really turned my day around. We had previously stopped by a different “dog friendly” restaurant nearby that obviously didn’t like his breed. The staff here was just so cool and I really appreciate feeling welcomed, especially with a dog. The fact that the food was delicious is an added bonus.
To be honest, this wasn't our first choice for dining. We tried a few other places, but weren't having any luck getting in at 830pm. Pleasant surprise. Food and service were good. Music is LOUD. Difficult to hear the server or each other, but that's part of the atmosphere. Cool place. If I were in the area again, I'd definitely go back
