I needed food to take to a grieving neighbor who lost a sibling from a sudden death. I wanted enough food for the family + extra guests. The manager at Mission BBQ, Veronica, was patient and helpful as I asked questions and inquired about feeding a party of ten people. I called a few times before making a decision on what to order. Every time, she was helpful, patient and kind. After ordering the food, I went for the pick up. The food was ready on time. Veronica was super gracious making sure we had all we needed, sauce, paper plates, utensils. I had such a sweet experience with this business. The folks who received the food loved it and was very thankful. Overall, a 10/10 experience. I will be going back to patronize this business.
I usually brag about hole-in-the-wall places for good barbeque. My theory has always been one man and his recipes are better than a chain that standardizes everything. Mission Barbeque defies this, they have a man and his smoker taste.
It has been 3 years since my last visit to Mission BBQ Murfreesboro. I really want to like this place but it is not going to happen. When you ask for the manager and the first words out of his mouth are, “That looks unappetizing” I have to agree. Sorry I am just not going to eat a sandwich that is little more than large chunks of fat and grease. He did try to make it right offering a refund and coupons. I accepted the refund but turned down the coupons. I don’t try to get something for nothing. I am sure there is good food served here, just not to me.
Weird first visit. Stopped in with my daughter just get her some Mac and cheese. Staff was visibly disappointed that customers walked in. Two of the young ladies made it clear they did not want to deal with anyone at that time. I image the lunch rush was very busy and we came in around 3pm down time. Also thought the food was really expensive for the quantity. Got 2 sides, a slice of cornbread, and a drink and it came up to 12 bucks. She initially said $7 and said “oh wait $12”. I was trying to do the math on she came to that number but I had a toddler running around the store and didn’t wanna delay getting her the Mac and cheese.Food tasted good. And as a service member I appreciated the decor.I don’t know if I’d stop in again though.
We have been to Mission BBQ about 3 times. Every time we have guests in from out of town we take them there and they love it. The food is always good, I like the pulled pork sandwiches for me and the sides are really good. The people are so friendly and servers come by and chat with us every time. Very homey atmosphere. am always touched by the salute to the U.S. each day and love how serious people are about it. We are planning to go there today, as a matter of fact.
Mission BBQ has a really kind staff that you will remember just as well as the good food. I really respect that they pay so much respect to military veterans, the concept of a Mission to get BBQ or a Mission to serve our country is a good one. Way to go Mission BBQ, I will always recommend your restaurant.
First time visiting. On my first visit I always order the pulled pork sandwich as I did here. First off, the positives, very clean, courteous staff, prompt service, good people working here. Nice sauce selection and sides. The side, baked beans, were excellent. The pork was dry and over cooked. News flash: pork is pink! this was dark gray. In Tennessee, there are so many local joints doing bbq pork well, it is hard for a chain joint to compete. I may try again, perhaps the brisket, but they do not have the essential pulled pork mastered.
We paid $38 for two meal combos and could have had a sit down dinner somewhere else for that price. It was at least $10-15 too much. Smoked Turkey had no flavor. Brisket was mostly fat and tasted like a cheap beef roast. Pulled pork was too salty and I like salt, so that’s saying something. Nothing had any kind of smokiness to it. Fries were fresh and crispy, but nowhere near Cori’s Dogs in Mt Juliet. The cornbread equally had no flavor. The sauces were tasty and made the food palatable, but we left very unsatisfied and ate some ice cream just to get rid of the disappointment. The staff was nice, the place was clean and I don’t feel that the experience was any reflection on their part. It was just poor quality, flavorless food.
If a person was to shake any restaurant here in Middle Tennessee I think eventually barbecue is going to fall out. There's barbecue restaurants all around. But this is where Mission BBQ is different, different than any other one,. Mission BBQ has devoted itself to the remembrance of all the men and women in uniform ,all those that have played part in their service to America the armed forces and Coast Guard. I like being there shortly before noon so we can all stand attention together as the national anthem is played. It's unlike any other restaurant experience I've ever had.I always end up buying the three meat combination and a side. Of course it's so much I have to take some home ,but they're juicy brisket, their jalapeno cheese sausage and the old standby pulled pork are the best in Murfreesboro Tennessee. Their sides are perfect. I just love Mission BBQ I can't say enough good things about it. I can hardly wait to go back soon.
First time disappointed but it’s also first time I weighed the meat for the two meat sampler. It’s supposed to be 4 ounces of each meat I happened to get of the same beef brisket moist and the worker said when I questioned the amount that it’s 8 ounces total but when I weigh it it comes to 6.7 ounces. Thanks for shorting me on the meal especially when y’all ain’t the cheapest around I come here because they support the military and being a veteran that means a lot but if they are going to short change me at these prices…. Update. Faith restored. Mission BBQ reached out to me about the experience and took full ownership of the poor experience which is welcoming in today’s business world. To acknowledge was more than enough to restore my faith.
