I ate here for the first time and the food was amazing! I took the Manager's advice and got both the mild chicken wing combo and a side of catfish-lemon pepper hot. Both were cooked to order and so good! The mild is perfect and the hot lemon pepper is good but also really spicy so beware. I'll definitely be back the next time I'm in town or you can just bring a location to Chattanooga, TN ☺️
Went here for the first time today only because the Hot Chicken Festival was too crowded and was too hot outside So went to Helen's and they were not busy at all probably because of the festival do I ordered the leg/thigh quarter and a piece of piece of catfish. Now the catfish was on point so good tasted so fresh, but that chicken was awful tasted and smelled like it was fried in week old grease just tasted a little piece of it and threw the rest away. Wasted my money and I was so looking forward to this hot chicken or well maybe next time....Nah don't think there will be a next time....Sorry
First of all, the reviews regarding the customer service are spot on. The ladies working the register do not seem enthused about being at work. However, the gentleman and back was friendly. The food was okay. Definitely spicy for mild. The worst part of the experience was the restaurant itself. It appears as if they haven't taken the time to upkeep the interior and there is a horrible mildew smell. The Helen's in Smyrna is so much better
Food was pretty decent, I enjoyed the chicken and was the right heat. Fries are seasoned pretty well and the other sides were enjoyable as well. They charge 5.99% service charge which they aren't very upfront about. There may have been a sign but I sure didn't see it. Despite that they still give you the prompt to tip at the end of the transaction! Don't charge me a service fee and ask me to tip.
Being new to the area I had no idea what hot chicken was. The staff was super nice here and explained to me the varying degrees of hot and spicy. Being a wimp I started with mild and I am in love with this place. Will definitely be back to try other things on the menu. They do have weekly specials as well
Super friendly staff and super helpful. I loved the chicken strips, coleslaw and fries. I tried mild, hot and Hella hot. It was so good. I definitely want to come back. Next time out in Murfreesboro.
Not what I ordered. A reminder of why I no longer ordered from here. Was a while since last time, but -yet-same issues. Good quality food, but prep is not correct. I have run restaurants.. (open to close) This is not on par. My husband also runs a kitchen. It's not product, but staff sometimes. I feel like a jerk. Yet, if it was my place of business, I would want to know.
Damn good food, just remember to make sure you got everything before leaving cuz we've gotten incomplete orders many times here. But that goes for any takeout really. One of my favorite places for hot chicken though can't go wrong with Helen's.
Had a great conversation with the owner a true family man and cares about quality and his business. I witnessed a wrong order and the owner went in back to the kitchen to make sure his crew made it right. I would recommend Helens anytime you want hot chicken and you are in Murfreesboro. Also if you want the perfect hot ask for extra hot not hella hot. It's perfect you feel the heat and burns but it's not too much. Just perfect.
I went by Helen's hot chicken today and ordered my usual hot catfish with mustard, pickles and onions which is my favorite! The 1st time I tried this combination was in Nashville. Want it all the time now. I want to shout out to Pam and Josh who presented me with great customer service today. I live in the area so, I come to the Murfreesboro location so much I started calling Ms Pam (Auntie). I haven't had any fish sandwich that have topped them yet! I have hipped my people from back home (Memphis) about it and they always request for some when I come home or if they come here. Keep up the good work!
