My daughter and I had lunch yesterday at Cathay Asian bistro. This is obviously a restaurant that was in decline and has seen much much better days. I was shocked to only find a few cars in the parking lot at what used to be the witching hour 1:00 in the afternoon. The restaurant had very few patrons at 1:00.We were shown to our seat and it appeared there was only one waitress in the sushi side of the restaurant I thought this place used to be packed at this time.My daughter ordered two sushi rolls they were great I ordered three spicy sushi rolls all three looked identical and tasted identical. Perhaps they were all three different I could not distinguish the difference though. The sushi was okay nothing brilliant or to write home about. Mine I'm still questioning? What was oncebeautiful koi ponds in front had now been neglected to just a green murky waterway.I will check back and report in a few months on the progress or decline of Cathay Asian bistro.
We go there alot for lunch & dinner. Lunch is cheaper and you get a salad, 2 crab ragoon and rice . Their tangerine chicken is the bomb. Our Granddaughter loves this place.
Fantastic all you can eat sushi with a big dinner menu
If I'm to be 100% honest the food was incredible and I was very satisfied. I came during a inspection, so I knew it wasn't going to be the fastest service, so while I waited they gave me a free soup. The sushi was mouth watering. I actually tried eel sushi a day I loved it.
7 people from our family for the Hibachi dinner. The chef was nice enough and the food was good but the place itself is really run-down. Lights not working outside, really dim lighting inside. Glass on walls and doors of hibachi area filthy and grease streaked. The place needs a major intensive cleaning. If this is the front of the house just imagine the kitchen. Luckily nobody got sick.Would not return.
Went for a fun hibachi experience with my parents, husband and 3 kids to celebrate our youngests 9th birthday. I mentioned it was a special occasion and also her first hibachi experience they were rude and never acknowledged her at all in any way. Chef wore a mask and barely spoke. No fun at all. Just basically quickly cooked and Rude to us. food was just ok. Price is decent but just disappointed by the service we received and rudeness on a special day for our family. Very different than when we went several years ago. Go somewhere else where they are friendly and actually want your business.

Vegetarian options are available, but I would try somewhere else next time. I love that I can order a vegetable tempura here. We also got the vegetable low mein and the buddha entree. I thought the salad and soup were good, though I didn’t expect the hot and sour soup to have chicken in it (the last place we loved didn’t have chicken in it). Most everything seems to have some egg in it, and that’s not my preference but obviously is common for the fried rice and such. The main deterrent was the oiliness of the food and the lack of strong flavor. Everything tasted a bit weak. I don’t particularly like soy sauce plain so I never add extra to my food, but here I did.The service was fine. Nothing special, but no problems. The restaurant on the outside is a ton of fun and my kiddos were so excited by the statues. The prices have been raised recently according to a sign at the front, but they were also quite reasonable. We paid around $8-9 per meal (including the tempura which was served with fried rice). At first I was thinking a sushi/hibachi date night in the future could be a fun time, but after trying the food we’re going to try other places before we’d come here again.
Sweet potato tempura roll with extra eel sauce is the absolute best thing!
Used to enjoy my visits to Cathay. Our last 2 visits we had to search for our server to get our orders taken for more sushi and neither time were they busy, there was maybe a total of 10 people there in the middle of the afternoon. On our last visit we saw cockroaches when leaving and the next night I was sick as a dog with food poisoning and hadn't had any other food that wasn't prepared by myself or my boyfriend.
