My husband and I have lived in Morristown all of our lives. We remember how Shoney's USED to be, all family style and cozy and great food! Restaurant was always full!. We go to Shoney's for the hot bar and keep saying to each other, "This time it will be better!" Sadly, it has not been better. We ate there Thursday night on 5-18 around 6 because we thought if we got there when supper time was, everything would be hot and fresh. The salad bar hardly ever disappoints, but the hot bar has disappointed us the last 5 trips. Last night, the fish tasted like it had been sitting out since lunch and not warm or hot. The meatballs were very cold and the only thing that was the least bit warm were the potatoes and gravy. I opted to order off the menu as I knew how the hot bar would be. Chicken tenders and onion rings shouldn't be a problem. The chicken looked like it was barely cooked, but the onion rings were good. Our waitress, Mikala, was nice and cordial, but there was a lady that I presumed was the manager kept walking around like she had absolutely nothing to do and kept going in the bar putting her elbows, arms all over the bar. She kept talking non business to the lady that was trying to put fresh hot food out (after we had been there an hour) and didn't act like she gave 2 whoops about anything but her conversation. Management has been an issue there for quite sometime and after last night, we will not go back to the Shoney's in Morristown. I had to talk a day off of work Friday my stomach was hurting me so badly! We did not talk to the manager or a manager because didn't think it would do any good A good manager, in my opinion, should always check the temperature of the food if it has not been switched out in an hour. I'm sure if the food inspector came there unannounced, that place would fail. I know it's hard to find people that want to work, but if Shoney's in Morristown wants to stay afloat, they need to find new management!
Had a wonderful experience for lunch today in the Morristown Shoney's the bar was fresh and full also very clean. Our waitress Ashley was friendly and very tentive to our needs. The lady doing the buffet kept it clean. The manager on duty Mandy checked on us during our lunch and after at the register. We will definitely be back. Thank you.
Restaurant was filthy! No soap in bathroom, limited toilet paper. Catfish and fried chicken was cold on the bar. Shrimp was lukewarm on the bar. One employee was eating off the bar, with no plate, while her husband and child walked through the kitchen to leave. The most disgusting visit and definitely not worth how much we spent ??
Every Sunday I come after church but their prices just keep going up. Bar and drink was $17 and change. Plus the tip, that's $100 month! Half my electric bill! Gonna have to skip if from now on. In my opinion, the bar isn't what it used to be. I think just a burger on the way home is going to be the norm moving forward. Every other decent restaurant in town is also jacked up so high middle class people can't even do out to dinner. Now groceries are just absolutely ridiculous. Looks like going back to when I was a kid. Pinto beans and taters more often lol. Won't be back here though.
My family and I had dinner there on Wednesday May 4th. I hadn't been there in a while but it used to be one of my favorite places to go in morristown. Our waitress was good although I observed another waitress being very rude and complaining about the tip that another table left her after they had left. The price on the buffet was 13.99. It had hamburgers, hot dogs, cube steak and gravy, fried chicken, and catfish as the main meats. The absolute cheapest meats you can buy. They charge 2.99 for a glass of tea. You can literally make a gallon of tea for pennies. I was charged 7.99 for my 6 year old who ate 1 hot dog. As well as 2.49 for his drink which used to be included in the price. I understand that food prices have slightly increased and it's not that I've ever cared to spend good money on food but I expect to get good food for good money. Thay had a sign on the front door that said please be kind to the staff that showed up. I've never been unkind to any staff anywhere but why did you need to remind me not to? I kind of felt like they thought they were doing me a favor by taking my hard earned money feeding me cheap food and reminding me not to be rude about it. If you can't keep anybody working maybe you should pay a better wage to your workers. Lord knows your making enough off the drinks alone to be able to pay your staff enough to care about their jobs and take pride in their work.
Never, ever eating here again!! We watched a worker in her uniform bring in her pet mouse, go into the kitchen with it, and when we were checking out she was at the register with another lady and it was crawling on her! That is so gross and so unsanitary!
We got the breakfast bar. The eggs looked like they had been sitting on bar for awhile. The cheese sauce was brown and looked burnt. The sausage was hard burnt. The waitress was amazing we asked for fried eggs and they were great. And she was very helpful and sweet.
The hostess was telling everyone that came in 45 to 60 minutes, yet there was a minimum of 8 tables open. She also told people sitting at the bar that they could not order until she told them they could. Most of the tables were eventually seated with customers with no excuse as to why she could not sit anyone. This was on a Friday night and many customers left. The only reason we stayed it was my grandsons birthday and that is where he wanted to eat. All went fine after we were finally seated
Worst Experience Ever!!! The wife and I came in at 7:30 pm the bar already looked not up to standards. I am usually a fan of the buffet that they offer but it was not refreshed. The only thing good this night was the salad bar. It was fresh. I requested fresh chicken at the bar when I first came in. I understand working in a restaurant myself if someone comes in t close but it was 7:30 and you didn’t close until 9. There was no reason for your hot bar to be trash!!!! The young waitress working was an awful server. There was no pre bus at all!! My table was full of dishes and I never got a refill. We were repeatedly ignored by her. The young lady up front when I complained informed me to never come back. I was going to complain to the reporting manager but I could tell by the way she called her it was going t do me no good. If this is how David Walker runs this place he needs to know this was the worst Shoneys experience ever and as the young lady requested I will never be back in that TOILET BOWL AGAIN!!! Oh yea, I never got the chicken either………..Thank you ✌?
