If you haven’t been you should. The food is top notch. Really some of the best regionally. Their plays on southern food with modern twists are a delight. Service is on its way up thanks to a great manager that really is training up her staff quickly. The task is hard with the restart from Covid and she seems to be handling it with a lot of finesse. I sat at the bar and the bartender I had was great. Try it, be patient, and you won’t be disappointed. We’re all trying to get back in the groove and Gray Canary is a groove I love
MY NEW FAVORITE RESTAURANT!! Our server, Michelle, was so wonderful and kind and had amazing recommendations. I highly recommend for an extraordinary meal and drinks. The pork chop is KILLER.
Came here on recommendation from friends. We had high expectations. The host and server were very friendly and the service was excellent. The ambiance had a great vibe. For us though, the food was a disappointment. It's possible that this is great for Memphis but... in our experience this fell far short of our expectations. We really wanted to like it. The food was beautifully plated and presented but the taste profile was off. We both felt it was pretentious and that they may be trying too hard. We left food on our plates. The price point is $$$$ and should have been $$.
Simply delightful, every course was beautiful, the s’mores really helped close out an amazing meal.
Had the Parker house rolls, ham, broccolini, and oysters for apps. The prawn rice and a steak for entrees. Everything tasted good but was very salty. Service was slow but not bad. Bought a single local draft beer and it was 8 dollars. Will probably go back, but not anytime soon.
I highly recommend this upscale restaurant in the downtown Memphis area. The atmosphere is great and the food is even better. We had the fried calamari, carrots with kimchi sorghum glaze, Harbison cheese with pear-ginger jam and squash donuts.
The atmosphere is modern , airy, and urban. Menu is innovative and the wood-fired oven imparts it's signature on the food. Small plates explode with flavor and offer enough in quantity that 3-4 gives you a nice culinary flavor assortment leading up to the entree. The staff is well versed with the menu and can make recommendations on small plates and the quantity to satisfy your appetite. Very nice wine list that is well thought out and explores wine zones that are usually missed at other restaurants. Extensive whiskey and tequila menu. Great cocktail bar!I liked that it's physical connected to Old Dominick Distillery. Located in a great up and coming downtown neighborhood with valet parking. Most impressive is the staff mainly because they are happy people and glad to work here. Happy staff makes greater experience for the diner.Lastly, they dont frown if you bring one of your old bottle's of wine. The $15 corkage is reasonable for us wino's.Our 35th anniversary was a great experience here!
My favorite restaurant in the city hands down. Perfect for groups or sitting at the bar. Service is always spectacular, especially Kat at the bar! Oysters are fresh and the best in the city. There is something on menu for everyone and serving sizes are portioned well. Thank you Gray Canary for making every visit enjoyable!
My friends and I shared a Tower and added a few more plates to all share. Even with the smaller portions we were all full and could barely finish the fantastic feast! The Squash Donut was delicious and crisp. The Tuna was seared to perfection. Everything was so fresh and the flavors were very unique and tasty. Ask your server which items may be too spicy for you if you are sensitive. Our server was excellent and knew the menu and drinks very well. My favorite was the Pink Drink. We also had had dessert. The Chocolate cake was my favorite.
We were seated with a view of the bar and the front windows. It is in an open area of the restaurant, but it felt intimate at the same time. The pace of service was just right, not too fast. Many restaurants make you feel they are just turning tables as quickly as possible. We were able to enjoy each round of drinks and food before having to decide on additional orders. There is a lot to choose from on the menu which is very eclectic and cooked with skill and precision. The cherry on top, the chef even came out to visit and check on us! Overall, it was a great dining experience!
