Today I visited the Genre for brunch & was pretty impressed. I first tried the reggae mimosa. Sooo not really sure what it consist of outside of champagne it’s like a secret elixir but it was so delicious! It was me and a few friends so I actually had an opportunity to try so 3 different dishes! Everything was phenomenal. First … the lamb chops and eggs. Divine. A twist from the normal traditional lamb chop sauce of mint jelly which I personally don’t care for. They had a sprinkle of Parmesan shred & they were incredible. They were tender, soft, juicy, grilled just right. Can’t wait to experience it again. The catfish and grits…. Perfect. Catfish was fried to perfection.Flavor was amazing. The grits didn’t taste like regular grits, they were so soft and silky almost as if they weren’t grits. I was disappointed I didn’t order grits lol. Last but not least, the fish and chips were lovely. The atmosphere is small and quaint, a lot of memphis flavor and decor inside. They also offer hookah. Overall can’t wait to visit them on taco Tuesday. We also had breakfast shots .. they were good they were missing the butterscotch schnapps to give it the syrup for waffles taste for a breakfast shot but overall definitely rating it 10/10
Kudos to The Genre owners and staff. I had an enjoyable time eating tasty food at your restaurant. The waitresses were committed to excellent service and were very friendly. It was nice to share some laughter with my Sorority's sisters. Most importantly, I would highly recommend your restaurant to other family members and friends.
Had the best catfish and okra today. Cooked to perfection. A big thank you to Deandre for brining my order to the car. Super impressed with the ease of online ordering and curbside pick-up. Food was ready and hot by the time I arrived. I’ll definitely be back ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Great food/ ambience/ and staff…⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The scene was low key and a real vibe. Very small building which is perfect for a girls night out. The food was cooked to order and was pretty good. The drinks wasn’t strong at all and I made sure to let them know. It’s Black owned and they make sure to tend to everyone. I’ll definitely be back!
We visited The Genre which was amazing to say the least. When we got to the restaurant we were instantly greeted by the staff and sat immediately. The vibe was R&B which I love! The brunch menu is limited but still very good. The fish and chips were superb; the fish was fried perfectly that paired well with crispy potatoes. The southwest egg rolls were really good and was served with a smoked chipotle spicy sauce; in addition, bacon was cooked to perfection. The mimosas were very well made as well as the strawberry lemon drop. As I grazed the crowed, I noticed hookah was offered as well as mimosa towers, mimosa set ups, etc. The service was quick and attentive to our needs. The ONLY reason I gave this 4 stars instead of 5 is because we were charged almost $15 extra in taxes (state tax and liquor tax). Since we’re visiting, that’s never been something we ran into and we travel A LOT!! Tennessee’s laws might be different than any other state, but this was outrageously expensive for what we got. This was in addition to the 18% they tagged on. Nonetheless, I would recommend you visit this place if you’re in the Memphis area.
Very nice place, small so get there early. Service is not so good. They have hookah but a little on the high side. Food was very well presented and had flavor.
Catfish was amazing. Next time planning on dining in and grabbing a drink or two. Will definitely be back next time I'm in Memphis.
The food and the staff were amazing. Highly recommend the catfish and chicken tenders, but even the salad was good. ? They opened for lunch to accommodate our volleyball team and families. Such a friendly staff.
