I had read reviews about how good the BBQ spaghetti was so I thought I’d give it a try and I wasn’t disappointed. This isn’t like cooking pasta at home and slapping some Baby Rays on it. Nope, it is smothered in original sauce and covered in pulled pork. It was so good. I would never cook my pasta that soft but with this it works just fine. The Texas Toast was buttery and soft and the slaw crisp and sweet. There is plenty for leftovers. If I lived here I’d be a regular.

This was my first destination, straight from the airport, my first time in Memphis. The first thing I noticed was how slow the service was. Perhaps they were understaffed, but it would have been nice if someone had at least acknowedged that they saw me and asked me to wait. There was no sign so I waited awkwardly wondering if the culture there was that I should seat myself. Eventually Erick came by to seat me, and he wa very friendly. However my waitress was actually Loraine, an older lady with a scowel who looked like she hated being there. To be fair she wasn't rude to me personally, but everything about her demenaor from her tone to lack of attentiveness just gave me the vibe that she didn't want to be there and she didn't want me to be there either. It was probably for the best that she only attended to me three times, once when she took my order, again when she brought the food and promptly left, and lastly to collect the check- when I finally got offered my first refill. Erick, on the other hand, even though he wasn't my waiter, was exceptionally welcoming and friendly. He alone gave me hope that the rest of my trip wouldn't be a disaster. As for the food itself, I ordered the ribs, half wet half dry, and the BBQ spaghetti. The noodles were a bit soggy but it was interesting to try, if that's what they were known for. The ribs were decent, but a bit dry, and nothing to write home about. Speaking for the food itself, if I were a local, I might stop by on occasion, but certainly nothing I would brag to out-of-town friends about

Very healthy portions and quick service. The pork was very good, the coleslaw was typical, and so were the baked beans. The ribs were good but didn't fall off the bone the way you hope they would. The barbecue spaghetti was disappointing for the price. 7.99 for a side salad plate that is essentially just spaghetti smothered in barbecue sauce.

Tried this place for the first time, and the food did not disappoint. The food was amazing!!! The BBQ spaghetti was very tasty, and was the main reason we wanted to try this place. That being said, the ribs are to die for!!! We had dry rub and the glazed, great tasting and fall off the bone. Well worth a visit. They also have lots of parking in rear of building. Potato salad is a must!!!!!!!!!

This is one of my favorite BBQ restaurants in the country. It was the first place where we had BBQ spaghetti and no other place has come close. We have been here a few times, along with the BBQ spaghetti, the pulled pork sandwich is a must try. Any time I pass through Memphis and I can stop by I do. I also recommend anyboby who ask to this place.

Probably the best place for ribs in Memphis. Not to disrespect the other bbq restaurants(especiallyThe Rendezvous near Beale St which is 2nd on my list in the city) but their wet and dry full slab ribs is unlike no other! U have to try that if it’s your first time here because you’ll be doing u a disservice if u don’t! Also get the bbq spaghetti it’s remarkably unbelievable good!

Very tasty food at reasonable prices. Loved the Texas toast and their bbq spaghetti. Awesome. ? will surely come again.

I like the rib meat. I don’t really like their bbq sauce though. It’s orange.. Overall the food was ok. It was bland. The sweet tea and Texas toast were the best part.

My wife and I planned a day trip to Memphis and wanted a new bbq experience. She looked through online reviews and thought we should try the Bar-B-Q Shop, which we had not visited. I am always leery of the honesty of some of these online reviews, but we arrived just after the opening at 11 and were promptly seated. The fact that only 2 other people were in the place made me wonder. Our server Lori was friendly, informative and attentive. We decided on the rib set up for 2 with a side of bbq spaghetti. Our drinks were promptly brought along with our side of slaw. Lori informed us the ribs were not quite ready, which was not an issue for us, so we sampled the slaw and bbq sauce she had brought out. The slaw is different from any we had ever had, so it quickly became an appetizer along with the mild bbq sauce and lots of delicious, sweet, iced tea which Lori continued to bring. After some time, our ribs, beans and toast arrived. Lori had suggested a slab of half dry and half glazed. The ribs were as meaty as I had ever seen. They were not undercooked and by no means tough or overcooked on any portion. They were just right to our liking. We had eaten our slaw during our wait for the ribs and asked for another serving. The second serving came as an extra side and, although it was pricey for the serving size, it was worth having great slaw with the ribs. The serving of beans, like the slaw, is a little lacking in portion, but I suppose that makes more room for the ribs. Several slices of texas toast are provided which make a good addition. By the time we were finishing our meal, there were people waiting to be seated at around 12:30 on a Saturday. Now I understand the online reviews. When we finished what we could and loaded up our to go boxes, the owner Eric came by our table. I told him I had judged Memphis in May and Kansas City contests over the last 20 years and his ribs, both the dry and glazed, were as meaty and flavorful as any I had ever tasted in a contest, which is absolutely true. A slab set up for 2 is currently $31.99, although the website lists it as $29.99, but with recent food price increases, $2.00 is not that bad, comparatively speaking. The sweet tea is a bit pricey at $2.79, up from the $2.49 on the website, as is the extra side of slaw at $3.49 and the side of bbq spaghetti at $7.49 compared to the portion sizes. Memphis is blessed with a number of bbq joints/restaurants, however I cannot speak for their current quality and pricing. Regardless, if you want a delicious rib experience which is generally reasonably priced if you don't add extra sides (it sure isn't necessary given the meatiness of the slab of ribs), I cannot say that you will find a better one than the Bar-B-Q Shop at 1782 Madison in mid-town Memphis. As we told Eric and Lori, the next trip we make to Memphis for ribs will be with them.

Recommended here and it didn’t disappoint - lovely waiter and excellent ribs and brisket - sweet coleslaw and no room for desserts
