Ended up here twice on a recent Wednesday night. The first time in a search for a bar (6pm-ish) without a cover charge and then again (10pm-ish) on the hunt for a spot with any vegetarian food. It's certainly not a vegetarian haven but it does have a veggie burger which puts it ahead of most of the joints on Beale St. Both times the staff was pleasant and professional and we enjoyed all the local beers the bartenders recommended. The star of the show though were the piano players who began perhaps around 7pm and were still there when we returned. To be honest, the crowd was giving them very little and they persisted like the professionals they were despite the milquetoast response. Next time I'll be ready with a long list of songs that could be in their repertoire and keep my fingers crossed for a more dynamic group of patrons. If you go, be prepared to tip the pianists and make song requests. Your experience will be the richer for it.
We arrived on Beale Street a little after 7 pm on a Friday night - family of 5 with underage teenagers. We had read kids were welcome at Silky O'Sullivans, but when we inquired for seating for dinner we were turned away. There was a $5 cover per person and no one under the age of 21 was allowed. We walked to their second entrance on the patio and were told the same thing. He said it would be the same trying to find dinner anywhere on Beale Street. But the bouncer took pity on us, stepped away for a minute, and then let us in. We sat on the patio. The food was very, very good. We had a bowl of gumbo, BBQ shrimp, and BBQ pork poboys. Excellent pulled pork on excellent bread! This "Irish" establishment had some of the best food of our trip, including many stops in New Orleans. Reasonable prices. We were allowed into the main restaurant to watch the dueling pianos - we stayed for one set, but didn't really find them very entertaining. So not sure what their family policy really is; wouldn't count on being let in with underage teens on the weekend evenings.
On the weekends, Silky's has two great entertainments! There is an outside courtyard with live music and also an indoor bar with dueling piano players who take requests all night long! Adam Quinn is uber talented and amazing to watch and sing along with! Definitely entertainment to check out on Beale Street!
My wife and I stopped in for an appetizer and a drink during an afternoon walk down Beal Street and glad we did. The waitress was extremely friendly and the atmosphere was very relaxed compared to the night time crowds. My wife had the gumbo, which she allowed me to taste, and it was extremely good. I had the grilled oysters and they were equally good. Nice bar, friendly staff, and great afternoons stop. At night, it gets packed, so go early to beat the crowd.
We were on Beale Street trying to find a place to eat and dealing with the hassle of everyone wanting a cover charge to go in just to eat. Some event going on and we didn't want to spend $15 at 7 PM on a Saturday. So we walked into this place thankful that we didn't have to pay to enter. We found a table, sat down in a crowed outdoor patio and were quickly served. The beer was brought rather fast and the food soon followed. I must say that the BBQ Pork sandwich may have been some of the best BBQ pork I have eaten. You know it is good when you take small bites to enjoy it longer. It was amazingly delicious and reason enough for me to come back if I ever was on Beale Street again. And of course the goats are cool, watching them run around in their little playground while you eat.
Enjoyed the live music and wonderful atmosphere at Silky O'Sullivan's on Beale Street. The weather couldn't have been better, except for the rain, obviously out of anyone's control. Great atmosphere, good music, not crowded due to the diligence of the staff.
Got seated before the rush- It was Sunday- Live music- no blues and Beale street is know for the blues- good luck with that- not here- Menu is overpriced-trying to make up for covid- Ordered 2 regular rib meals,- there was a sticker stating that the prices had an increase, but no amount until you get your bill. SHOCKED- the meal 2 $18.99 went to $25.99- Couldn't the waiter say something-$7.00 additional per meal- unacceptable.
There was a basketball game this night so Beale was packed. Silky was fun, great ambience and food. Great service despite how busy. Breanne was busy but didn’t forget us! Thanks much.
Would recommend going for dinner. Catfish and gumbo soup were excellent. Friendly waitress and nice atmosphere
You need to show ID to get in. The place has a nice, spacious outdoor sitting area featuring live music and a good variety of options in the menu. Indoor seating is also available. My reason for the two stars review: we went to eat lunch but we only ended up waiting for about 40 minutes. Had to ask the waiter if she could give us some menus. She did but never came back for out order. We decided to wait some more but there were no waiters on sight. We decided to leave and eat elsewhere.
