The staff was extremely friendly, but we had a confusing visit. They sat us at a table and said they had a the table reserved for 2 hours after we sat down. We didn't think it would be an issue, but it did end up taking an hour and a half for the food to come out. Then when they did bring the food out they had forgotten the petite salad for my young niece. Not a huge deal, but the shrimp was really bad. Bad enough that I would recommend patrons avoid the shrimp. The shrimp was dry and chewy and smelled spoiled. So from my perspective, these very friendly people didn't get the child's salad first, Even though they had served two salads, and the salad they did serve to the child was less than appetizing. Some of the dishes were home runs. The salmon was delicious, the watermelon salad was a treat, but it almost seems like a gamble of what is good. I can't in good conscious recommend this place. It's a shame because the staff was so nice. For the prices here, the risk is not worth.

Second time eating here, always fantastic service, great atmosphere and delicious and beautifully plated foods. We had my mothers 75th birthday here and we brought our one cake. The restaurant staff also bright the cake out with the candles we brought lit, after blowing out the candles they took the cake to the kitchen sliced and plated it and it was a fantastic experience! We enjoyed several bottles of wine, appetizers and exceptional main courses!

The best burger I’ve ever eaten. And the rest of the food was tops as well. The wait was a bit long (over 30 minutes from when order was placed) considering the fact that I was the only person in the restaurant but it was worth the wait. It was mid afternoon so I’m guessing that they were changing shifts.

Came in around 4 and told they could seat us but that they had a reservation at 6. 2 hours is plenty of time to decide, order and eat, right? Our food came about an hour and a half later. To their credit it was warm! The salmon and cauliflower risotto was really good. Unfortunately, we ordered shrimp. They looked good, but they were exceptionally dry, smelled bad, and tasted really off. Unfortunate experience with a highly recommended restaurant

My wife and I were excited to give this restaurant a try since we were given a gift card as a wedding gift. I got the Chefs special which was Antelope and my wife got the Halibut. Both meals were excellent. The disappointment came when we went to use our gift card but were told they don't accept the "white one" anymore. That's it, you are SOL. We talked with the manager and she didn't even offer to comp us anything from our meal, not our drinks, dessert, nothing. $100 gift card they received the money for and we got nothing in return. WOW River Oaks, that's the best you could do!!

My husband and I had dinner here tonight to celebrate our.24th wedding anniversary. We we’re visiting the area and didn’t have any personal knowledge of River Oaks. However, I always read previous customer reviews when selecting a place to dine. As such, chose River Oaks because the many positive reviews definitely outweighed the few negative ones. So, I’ll start with the good. Upon arriving, the host was very pleasant and seated us immediately. While the restaurant is beautiful, the seating wasn’t what I expected. Food was very good. Beautiful presentation. I had the lamb and husband had the scallops. This is where things quickly went downhill. Space is very, very quaint. You can literally hear conversations from other tables without listening. In my opinion, it’s not the intimate, romantic setting that I thought it was portrayed to be. Nice but more communal setting. Our server approached the table, no greeting, no introduction, no offer of an appetizer, no discussion of the menu, nothing, Just can I get you something to drink other than water? I ordered a Spritz, by now my husband is like no, just water for me. Already put off by her demeanor. As was I, but thought it might get better. Wrong. My drink comes. Are you ready to order? Thankfully we had perused the menu prior to arriving. She came around once to ask if everything tasted OK. The answer was yes, because it did. My husband’s water glass was less than half full at this point. Finally, I asked the server who was attending a couple next to us to please ask our server to come over. She obviously did pass the message, and told her we needed water. She comes with the water pitcher, immediately fill his glass and ask do you want dessert? We did, but no we want to get out of here. Check comes, we pay and leave. But, not before I voiced my concerns to a manager (she didn’t introduce herself either.} I relayed to her all the things I mentioned above, not sure it made a difference. So, my best advice is if all you desire is good food, then by all means check it out. But if you expect good service, I hope your experience is better than what received tonight. We definitely won’t return.

Service was lovely, food was very yummy. We had the herb crusted lamb rack (perfectly cooked just the way I like my lamb), the Monday night special beef bourguignon with fettuccine, and crème brûlée.

Always one of my favorite places to dine in Memphis! The group of friends loved everything they ordered...my favorite: Chicken Pillard-always delicious!

We just had lunch at this awesome hidden gem. Hannah was our waitress and did a GREAT job. I’ve passed this place a million times but we’ve never been here. My daughter wanted to try a French place today. The food was delicious and the service was EXCELLENT!!!!!! I highly recommend River Oaks . We’ll definitely be back.

Had a reservation for 7pm. Did not get to sit until around 7:30, finally got to eat around 8:20. Waitress clearly in over her head but the food was delicious. The ambiance & customer service was great.
