I have ate at this Pei Wei more times than I can count and it has always been over the top. However, they have changed managers and they have terrible service. I always order the Kung Pao Shrimp with a side of teriyaki sauce. Today I forgot to order the sauce and the food was extremely dry. When the guy finally brought my daughters Spring Rolls to her ( in a to go bag!), I told him she needed more sauce and that I needed some teriyaki sauce. He told me there was a .89 charge for the teriyaki sauce. I gave him a $10 and he went up to the register. After waiting for several minutes, he came back and informed me that since I didn’t order the side of sauce when I placed my main order, they could not sell me the sauce! After explaining that I have purchased the side of sauce before, several times. He said he would have to go ask his manager. After several minutes, he returned and just sat the side of sauce on the table, very rudely, before walking off. This Pei Wei needs new management or better training!
Ordered the yum yum shrimp and took a bite and simultaneously smelled rotten shrimp. Jumped up and spit it out and washed my mouth out and am now praying I didn’t ingest any of it. Smelled the rest of them and it was so rotten. I have no idea how anyone could serve that to a customer. I called and talked to the manager and told him to throw the rest from that batch out!
Yuck. We did not know that this place may as well be Panda Express. Ordered last night, will never ever ever again. Everything was soaked in gross tasting sauces (probably to mask the poor quality of the meat), the dumplings were doughy/soggy whatever, just gross. Threw it in the trash. Skip this one.
Arrived at 7:30 pm as a stop on our very long road trip to take a car break with two little kids. Not only did they ignore use when we went in, they told us we could not eat inside since they had to clean the floors. As someone who has a restaurant background, this is very disturbing. This should be done after closing and nowhere near 7:30 pm. I am not one to get mad, but I am furious.
Ordered my usual pad thai which was disgusting. The sauce has changed without notice. When I asked the server about the sauce change she said she didn't know and continued sweeping around us. No refund or offer to remake were attempted. Servers have an attitude.
We've ordered Pei Wei many, many times through DoorDash and UberEats and it is ALWAYS piping hot, great proportions, super flavorful, and just perfect. I have yet to be even the slightest bit disappointed by them. We love them so much that when they were unavailable on delivery apps tonight, I said 'screw it' and drove to pick up the food (big deal for us pandemic shut-ins ?).100/10, every time. Pro tip: sub for noodles in your entree and add whatever extra toppings you want, you wind up with 2 meals' worth of delicious food for <$15.
Food was good (not as good as it used to be). Portion size was not. I used to be able to make two meals out of my order, but now my to-go order doesn't even fill the to-go container it comes in. Also took ~45 minutes to get my order ready, when I was told 20-30, and they got part of it wrong. Seems like an overall dip in quantity and quality.
The lo mein noodles that are an extra $2 are spaghetti noodles. We ordered lo mein noodles instead of rice with our entrées. We paid an extra $2 per order for the privilege and they were just plain noodles. And then when we brought it up to them, they didn't seem to care or make any attempt to fix them.
The food is always great here. The staff is very helpful and attentive. The store was clean and well organized. Hand sanitizer on all tables as well is a nice thing.
They seem nice enough but I can never find anything that looks good on the menu, which is concerning. Nothing has like that nice char or caramelization. I would love to be wrong on that and find something.
