Our favorite BBQ restaurant's dining room was closed, so we gave One and Only a try. Success! Delicious ribs (I like dry style), meaty and tender. Savory baked beans. Slaw was standard mayo-based. Our cravings were satisfied. We dined in, but tables were few and crowded - this is more of a take-out place. Employees were very friendly and happy to answer all our questions. We recommend!!
Pulled pork was ok but not great. Prominent sign over entrance announced that the dining room was open. Inside there were no customers. I asked if the dining room was open and was told to place an order at the counter and it would be brought outside. So I dined at one of the two outdoor tables, which was fine. While I was there other customers went in and dined inside. Not sure why I was not offered the same option. Maybe I didn't use the secret password.
We had a variety of things on the menu and everything was delicious! Our kids cleaned their plates which rarely happens. So glad we decided to stop here!And our waitress LA was wonderful!
We did takeout from here one night when we were tired from a long day in downtown Memphis. It was a excellent decision. Perfect seasoning on the pulled chicken, the BBQ sauce was delicious - could have drank that on its own. The green beans have a bit of a kick. Texas toast was good. Absolutely loved this BBQ! Ample portions as well.
From Raleigh, NC where we are noted for our “Eastern Carolina” bbq (vinegar based) and, honestly, not a fan of that style so was very excited to try Memphis BBQ and compare. Absolutely not disappointed. Had the smoked Turkey with green beans and the potato salad. Turkey had an amazing smoky flavor and loved that they grilled it with some seasoning. Didn’t even need the sauce but gave it a try. Perfect. Nicely sweet with a slight kick. My friend had pulled chicken and she said was perfect as well. Great portion sizes too. A must go to!
The service is always great at this location! I recently bought a gift card at Kroger that had several local restaurants on it. I took it to another popular BBQ restaurant in Memphis and they told me their system couldn't accept the card even though their restaurant was on it. I took it to One and Only and Teresa & Nick figured out how to run the card. I got my order and was very pleased! Thanks Teresa and Nick for helping me out! The BBQ bologna and banana pudding were awesome! I will be back!
The service and the food were phenomenal! We are from Texas, so we take barbecue very seriously. We wanted Memphis Barbecue and we loved it! The baby back ribs (wet) were falling off the bone and unbelievable. Our friends got the bbq pork and loved it. We all enjoyed the twice baked potato salad and the fries were great! The people were so kind and helpful as we navigated the menu. Thanks You Guys! We’ll be back!
One and only happens to be my favorite bbq place here in Memphis, I try to steer away from this location as it always seems to underperform compared to the others. Due to convenience, every couple weeks I’ll try it out again to see if it’s improved. I understand fries don’t carry well, but the timber creek location at least puts them in a seperate container. When they don’t, they still at least pack them nicely. When I returned home with my food, there was a pile of sweet potato fries that were so steamed and soggy, they were clearly smashed when the order was being boxed, it was just a giant mashed sweet potato. I am done with this location and will go to the others where they at least have some care in the world. Always rude interactions on the phone too.
My husband and I were in town with our two teenage sons. We live in Kansas City and wanted to check out Memphis barbecue. This was recommended to us and it was really good. There was a lot of food. My boys and husband could not eat all of their meal and actually made two meals out of it! The sides were so good. I am not a big meat eater and I had plenty of food to eat. The service was great and they answered all of our questions. We would go hear again when in Memphis.
Stopped in on a whim. Yay whim! Partner and I split a rack of ribs, half wet, half dry. Had the green beans and mustard potato salad sides. Ribs were falling off the bone tender and full of flavor. Great rub, great sauce. The green beans were sparky and really tasty, the potato salad also flavorful. Might have to head back and try the brisket. Super efficient staff. Mostly take out, but there are a few tables indoors and out to eat on the premises.
