I found this restaurant on TikTok. I drove 3.5 hrs to get there so I really wanted to like it. We (my husband and I) were there when the restaurant opened at 11am and received our food about 12pm. They were out of what I originally ordered, oxtails, so I opted for lamb chops. The lamb chops were small and “okay”. The cabbages were good but spicy, which I like. The mac and cheese was good. The gumbo was not what I’m accustomed to since I grew up about an hr and a half from New Orleans. It was not served with rice (but with something that looked like a lump of grits or mashed potatoes in the middle) and the roux was less than delightful. Sadly, the food looked better than the taste (except the gumbo- it didn’t look good at all). The restaurant automatically adds gratuity, even with only two people, so they added over $16 to our bill for a total of over $118. Overall the restaurant & food was just okay. We probably won’t be going back when we return to Memphis next month. Be your own judge, however.

My husband and I went for a late lunch on our Anniversary today. The food was amazing service was superb. Thanks for taking good care of us Amber. We will definitely be back.

The service and the food was wonderful. I would like to say thank you to Amber for making sure that my first time at Mahogany was a good experience. JW

Amber made our evening wonderful! She was pleasant, knowledgeable of the menu, and patient. We’ll see you again. Thanks for being grand! Vee

Our early dinner consisted of Chicken and Waffles and the Oxtails and Grits. The Oxtails were succulent, tender and flavorful with ground grits to round out the meal. The Chicken was crispy, but the flavor wasn't consistent as ordered before. The Chicken Eggrolls --spicy, crispy and delicious!

First impressions are a dealbreaker for me! I love oxtails and I haven't been able to find them since I moved here from GA. I was highly disappointed! I don't care about paying as long as the food is good, but $45 is ridiculous for what I received. 18% gratuity automatically added for mediocre food is unreasonable. It was full of grease and the grits were lumpy meaning they had been sitting up so ajue from the oxtails was added and they were tough and chewy. This didn't look appetizing... as a chef, I wouldn't have sent this up. So no I won't be back. $45 should be invested in better to go trays that separate each entree.

The young lady behind the bar was very nice and on point with service. I had the Cajun egg rolls and they were delicious.

Although we had a reservation, because our entire party was not there we were not alowed to be seated. The lady at the front had a nasty attitude which put a damper on our day. Secondly we ordered oxtails and after waiting for our food, the waitress came back and said they didn't have any so we had to choose something else. Not the waiters fault, but still disappointing. Service was underwhelming. I'm giving 3 stars because of the ambiance and majority of my the people in my group, including myself thought that the food was good. Also I loved seeing all the black people there supporting this black owned business.

I like the ambiance of this place. Unfortunately it’s hit or miss at this place. The drinks are always great the food is ehhhh depends. It’s like the quality or recipes aren’t always the same or theyre always out of something. I love the fact that it’s black owned but consistency is always key. The presentation is always pretty as well. The dishes, the art, the garnishes on the drinks but inconsistent and customer service needs incredible improvement. French toast and the catfish platter pics attached below.

Not pleased with the food/ food appearance. This spot was SO nice when it first opened. Order creamed spinach that came out looking dry and not creamy. Someone else in my party had the pasta it looked dry as well. Not sure if I’ll be going back.
