I grew up on Leonard's Bar B Que and was devastated when it closed. Just made a recent trip to Memphis and found out it had reopened. Just like the original. Brought 4 lbs of pulled pork home with me. The staff was nice enough to pack it in one lb packages.Usual great experience.
They stop seating people at 1:45pm. So all I can say is the lady nicely told us we could place a carry out order.
Ribs are small, but meaty! Nice rub and very tasty. Not overcooked. There’s something about Memphis ribs. No one seems to take the silver back off! So far, every slab I’ve gotten has that membrane still on it! Never seen that and I can say I’m not a fan. It kind of gets in the way! Oh well. The ribs are sticking together but have a nice pull. Not too tight. The sauce is a little thin but has a surprising taste. It’s not spicy but tangy. And rich. Maybe a little coffee? I don’t drink it, so I’m guessing. As for the sides, the slaw is ground! Wow! It’s very fine and sweet. Then sour. Then a vinegar aftertaste. Very easy to eat! The baked beans have pulled pork in them. Very good. Still sweet but rich tasting. Lots of pork in the beans. Very tasty.
Best BBQ in Memphis. Just glad Gus's Famous chicken bought them and are preserving the oldest BBQ restaurant in Memphis. 11-2 sat/sun
BBQ excellent Memphis style ribs and pulled pork. Slaw on point fresh and tasty. Italian Meat gravy was delicious served on the spaghetti and ravioli (which I would swear were homeade) was a pleasant surprise?
Staff was super friendly and fun. Food was great. My daughter loves the rolls so much we went back the next day just to get a half dozen for when we we driving around town.
The catfish was delicious and fresh. Didn't enjoy the spaghetti it was watery. Slaw was good bread good. Place is very clean. Workers was nice.and friendly.
When you taste the word barbecue in your life this is what it tasted like in the very beginning. Essential stop for anyone that loves the food and honors the craft of slow and low. The hospitality is second to none too. Thank you everyone for today.
Service was excellent, however the food left a lot to be desired. My wife and I expected the barbecue to be actually cooked over a pit with smoked flavor, I could tell it was boiled first and then put in a oven. It was okay, nothing special for me but that's my opinion.
First time to this place. Heard about on diners, drive in and dive. The food was good. Not a fan of the coleslaw but the lemon icebox pie made up for that part. Will definitely be back tomorrow to try the catfish.
