Longtime Memphis bakery offering cakes, breads, pastries, and a lunch counter. Almond croissant and danishes are favorites. Check out the day-old rack for deals.
Cute place! Clean and great service. My chicken salad on a baguette was delicious. Most definitely would return.
I really want to like this place, I like the types of things they sell and it all looks so good. But I've given them two chances now and it's just not for me. The first time I tried macarons and they were very very light on filling and tasted stale and not fresh. Some friends recommend their petit fours so I went again this morning. A pecan cream cheese danish also came home with me. It was maybe a 4/5, the outside was dry and the dough was slightly undercooked on the inside. The petit fours weren't good at all. Maybe if you've never actually had a good petit four it would count as a decent little piece of cake but I didn't even like the flavor. No go for me.
My Mom is always talking about this place and I’m glad I finally went! It was delicious! The blackberry macarons were to die for! Also got a strawberry pound cake plus other little pastries. For lunch I had a cup of French onion soup “Chef kiss” can’t wait until I’m able to come back and try some more stuff! Also tried out some fancy bottled water ;)
Very friendly staff. I found my quiche and french onion soup overly salty for my taste. Cute tables but don't have a party larger than 4 if you want to eat together..IMO. They were busy around 1245p but tables weren't kept up with...
French bakery in Memphis area. I visited today to get some breakfast. The French onion soup comes with some slices of baguette. That was fantastic. The croissant was pretty good too. But the best one was the chocolate tart. I asked for another chocolate pastry, however the server lady misunderstood and gave me another one which I discovered after coming home. The chocolate swirl on the tart is made up of real chocolate. It’s not too sweet and tastes very good. I will again go back to try some different stuff. Don’t miss this place, if you are around. They have huge selection of cakes and desserts.Update: I visited on Sunday, in the morning to grab some quick breakfast. There was nothing much available except croissant sandwich and stuff in the counter. We ate a croissant breakfast sandwich with egg and bacon. It was decent, nothing over the top. The regular coffee was very basic and underwhelming. The lemon tart was also pretty decent. In my next visit I ate the quiche and chicken salad sandwich. The quiche was very filling and tasty, whereas the chicken salad was underwhelming.
Persist a fresh loaf French bread and so tough you can't pull it apart I'm very dissatisfied my first visit there
You cannot go wrong with a chicken salad on croissant, spicy tomato soup and any pastry! 10/10.
Ordered a Birthday cake , picked it up today, Nov 15th, got it home the cake is horrible, is this gluten free, or sugar free? Or no sugar? Taking this back tomorrow, I'm not spending $40 for a horrible tasting Birthday cake. ,Update: we talked to the owner thru Facebook messenger, they were completely understanding, and said bring it back for refund. We came in this morning to return, and lovely lady Ms. Loretta refunded us out of her own purse since the the manager wasn't there yet to take care of us. We then ordered breakfast sandwiches to go. We will be returning customers!!!
This was my third time going back after they opened back up. The girl at the cash register was extremely rude the food tasted old and on a Friday they were out of everything. Not the least bit LaBaguette quality
