Food wasn't great and seems overrated... its basically self service and the fried stuff seemed quite dry inside. To be fair, I'd recommend the fried shrim tacos and the grilled salmon with the garlic butter.
Still a good place to eat fried fish, shrimp etc, we only didn’t really like the frog legs, surprisingly good enough wine from cans, price is only thing that is a little too high for what you get, really special atmosphere and decorations
I could eat here everyday. It's so fulfilling, yet doesn't weigh you down.I recommend the grouper and/or red snapper grilled made with traditional, snappy, and garlic butter. Make sure to squeeze you lemon over everything except the beans and rice.Pure. Joy.
Very casual order at the counter and pick up your meal. Catfish/shrimp basket was great and wife enjoyed shrimp po'boy as well!
orderd $70 worth of food and I'm pissed...they put both my crayfish boil and my shrimp boil in PAPER TO GO PLATES as wells as my catfish jambalaya.. which of course the plates soaked through and ripped... my books had no seasoning. the crayfish was dirty and black. I didn't eat any of my food. smh..
Stopped in the Flying Fish for lunch on a Saturday and it was great. Greeted us at the counter where you order with a smile and asked if we needed any help picking out our lunch. Lot's of choices from grilled and fried fish to oysters, shrimp and my favorite frog legs. Definitely worth a visit.
wanted a quick lunchtime meal...so we split the Grouper Po-Boy and it was as good of a Grouper sandwich as I can remember having. Fries were crisp and hot and good...and the two hushpuppies that came with it were great with a little hot sauce. Also got the thin sliced deep fried jalapeno chips...enough for 2...nothing fancy but a good little side to have along with the meal. Would certainly come back here.
My family and I went April 7 we ordered what we usually order grilled trout ❤, grilled salmon❤ and fish tacos❤, they include grilled vegetables and what you would call a bean rice mix. Now to be clear we been eating here for years, I've left reviews about the Flying Fish before which were great 4+. But they've done something the bean rice mix recipe (whatever they call it) my wife was the first to notice the change. She first thought that it was Rancid. They're putting so much beer in it that it tastes like bottom of the trash can old dark beer, when I inquired at the counter the guy was a little smug and said they "haven't changed anything" and "that the guy that makes it has been there since the restaurant opened" well that's all well and good BUT, it's a good idea every now and then as a restaurant to sample your own food ! It did not taste right it's way too old beer tasting and they have more or less ruined what used to be consistently great.
It is anice food stall, you can have a beer or soft drink and a lot of freid sea food, calamari rings to fried oysters and fish. You also can go with jambalaya and gumbo, the jamba nicely hot, but for a higher level various chili sauces are available. Next time again...
The food was delicious. The vibe was chill and homey. No complaints. 5 stars. Would attach a picture but we devoured every last drop. The hostess was very personable and had great customer service as well.
