This place is great. It has spooky horror vibes, without really trying. It is supposed haunted, but alive never felt any uncomfort. The decay is part of the charm. Friendly staff members, and good conversations with the other guests as you explore the historical building always makes for a good time. Plus, the burgers are among the best in Memphis.
Ok locals, do not kill me. While visiting Memphis this place was constantly brought up as a must visit. We heard the stories and of course knew we had to visit and get the famous soul burger. Let's star with a positive, the bartender and cook were super friendly. I am no stranger to dive bars but this place fits in a whole other category. I love the idea of a place having one thing on the menu, but when I saw my boy take out a frozen patty from a box I felt deceived. My husband and I exchanged glances but happily scarfed it down none the less. And guess what, it tastes like a frozen patty. Maybe just stop in for 1 drink and check out the ambience but that's about it
Friendly dive bar with the best soul burgers and live music on the weekends. Always a good mix of people.
Still a favorite place in Memphis.Sometimes a piano bar up top.
This is the type of place where you can come in quickly to grab a bite and drink. It is not fancy at all. This place is the definition of a dive bar. Customer Service was good and I was told the food was good. The place looks old like it is falling apart but that is part of the charm. This place only serves single or double cheeseburgers but the burgers are good. I asked the bartender to make me her favorite cocktail and she did a wonderful job putting something together.Wish this place had more seating and tables.
This is a great late night spot! Be sure to stop here if you're looking for something to do after a downtown event. It's a great atmosphere with a lot of history. The soul burgers are delicious!
Great dive bar. Owner greeted every patron. Burgers were awesome. Bartenders were great. Excellent experience and evening our on the town with the wifey. Felt very safe
It's probably the best dive bar...ever Love this place and hope it never changes!
I don’t think any of these reviewers have ever had a burger before. me & my boyfriend had a burgers. We both got sick from it. And that was the best part of this place. The drinks are terrible. The bartenders seem overwhelmed and mad to be working. I guess I’d be mad too if my bar was full of rich white entitled kids. It’s not cute or “atmospheric” to not care when one of your patrons gets injured slipping on your wet floor. It’s not cool not to care. The music was a cover band. They were good but it was hard to hear above the underage drinkers & drug deals. This isn’t a dive bar. This is just a run of the mill meat market pick up bar with terrible food, even worse drinks & abysmal service. Go here if you’re looking to pick up drunk underage white girls. Or fight with Kyle who just got his business degree & now works for Daddy making $100k a year. Cmon Memphis. This is your “legendary” dive bar? Get it together.
The best place to be in Memphis on a Friday or Saturday night. We were there , hubby and I that is, with a large party this past Saturday and the burgers were amazing. A band name Elevation rocked the house. Definitely check this place out.
