I am glad I picked this place for lunch. I had been wanting to go for quite some time and not sure why I waited so long. We had fried green tomatoes, which were amazing! Also, I had salmon with broccolini and creamed spinach. My sister had the traditional burger with fries.Both of our dishes exceeded expectations and we were very impressed with the service from Nadiah and the entire professional staff.Finished our lunch with a blueberry bread pudding, which was awesome to try, but I will try a different dessert next time. I even saw the new University of Memphis President, Dr. Hargrave, dining at Char as well for lunch.All in all, I will definitely come back here. Take care, Char.
I came here for the first time ever to have brunch and I enjoyed it, from the mimosas to the food. Service was above and beyond as well.The environment is elegant and calming, and the menu has a great variety of options to choose from. I will definitely continue to support Char. Try the shrimp & grits; it's very good and full of flavor.
The service was awesome the food was awful. The fried oysters were battered in a heavy chicken batter not sure what that sauce was. The French fries were cooked in old oil taste like the same you used for tenders. The ham was salty and thick. This is my first visit since Covid. Maybe the selections were poor, but there was mainly sausage no crab or crawfish to taste. I love the atmosphere but the food has got to get better.
Some friends and I went to Char on a Wednesday evening and everything was wonderful. The service was exceptional and the food was great! I started with the Caesar salad which was great and the lettuce was very fresh and crunchy. I had the Redfish entree with the cheese grits and I substituted my steamed spinach with spinach au gratin. I made a great decision on all!!!! We had a couple of cocktails as well. I haven’t been to Char in a while but I will try them again for brunch since my most recent experience was so good.
I love Char. Great ambiance and wonderful service. We had the salmon and New York strip steak. Both cooked to perfection.
Char was a magnificent experience. Great location, plenty of parking, safe and well lit. Atmosphere was charming and romantic. Staff was professional, courteous and eager to please. The food was absolutely fantastic My steak was grilled to perfection. The gumbo was bursting with flavor and the onion rings were out of this world by far my favorite.
The ambiance of char was amazing. It was delicate and classy. The waiter we had was prompt and attentive. We had the fried green tomatoes for the appetizer. He had the duck which was tender and well cooked at medium. The ginger peanut chicken salad was fresh, and bursting with flavor! I wish it had more cucumbers but overall I loved the experience at char. Definitely would go back
The whole experience was phenomenal! The crab cakes are the best I've had in the Memphis area. Fried oysters can be tough but these were the most tender fried oysters I've ever had. They have a southwestern flavor which isntmy go to, but still delicious. The steaks were so flavorful and so tender it was like cutting into butter! The drinks were delicious and strong. We tried the Blueberry Lemon and the Tequila
First time hearing of this restaurant and I really like. I will go back with my daughter and sister in law. Excellent service for some of the wait staff I had the Grilled Atlantic Salmon it was good as well as the best sweet tea. Great atmosphere!❤
I rarely eat out so When I was invited to a retirement dinner I decided to go. Best decision ever. Food was fabulous. Crab cakes, pork rinds, onion rings for the table. Then the fillet for myself. Service was great. Wonderful experience.
