Stopped by for lunch on a trip to Memphis. Must try the Tableside Guacamole. They will make the Guacamole at your table, great flavor and makes for a great way to start your meal. The steak and shrimp tacos were very tasty, you can taste how fresh the ingredients are. The Mexican Corn is an excellent choice as a side, it’s the perfect size to share. The menu also includes great choices for Burgers. The Baba Burger was the perfect comfort food. Good service added to an already delicious lunch. Next time, I must come back in the evening to try a cocktail.
I wish l could I give this place more stars!!! Everything was so delicious OMG!!! This is going to be my favorite little spot for some simple delicious food. My taste buds are still dancing in my mouth as I sit here with an empty plate before me. This is a beautiful place it's family oriented so please foolishness stay away. Come and enjoy you a good meal with good vibes and EXCELLENT food. Excellent I say!!!
Hubby and I decided to have a quick lunch at Babalu East and I'm so glad we did! I had the seared crab cakes as an app and they were so good! But the shrimp and grits were top notch! Chef's kiss! ? Don't even get me started on the frozen Juke Joint Juice! I'm a whiskey girl and it did not dissapoint!! If you try it, get the bourbon floater! ?
Our family of 5 had a wonderful dinner on Friday, July 1st at Babalu in Memphis. Our waitress was very efficient and had personality and all of our dishes were delicious. We started with the “make at the table guacamole” and then continued with salads, crab cakes, lamb sliders, and tacos. We will definitely be back again!

My family enjoyed Mother's Day Brunch with outdoor sitting. We were are a party of seven who each ordered something different as well as some of the adults ordering brunch beverage specials. The beverages were probably enjoyed as much or more than the food. My plate (pictured) was not seasoned with the exception of the gravy which was minimal. Two other brunch choices were barely seasoned as well. Service was good for such a busy day.
It's kind of expensive for the small portions that give you but I think it's well worth it the food is delicious and authentic. They made fresh guacamole right there on our table and brought us delicious homemade chips. My personal recommendation and favorite food there though is the sweet potato fries with the spicy ranch or the avocado roll.
Waiter was great. The tacos were mediocre at best but potatoes were good. Wife said the cocktails were good. In all honesty, it takes something divine or unique to impresse me on txmex food. I’m probably not the best judge on tacos. Such little things with too much of a corn tortilla shell flavor; I feel I’m missing the good stuff on the inside.
I have worked in the restaurant business for ten years . I understand today is super bowl Sunday and that the place was closing at 3 for Super Bowl Sunday . We came in at 2:20 and I understand how irritating that can be , I've been though it multiple times . However we are paying customers and expect to be served as if we are the first table of the shift . Our waitress Adriana H was less than enthusiastic to see us in her section . Made sure to let us know to order quick because the kitchen was closing at 3pm. She took our drink orders which she had someone else deliver so she could clean her section . Took our orders and then did not check on us once . She never brought us water and my fiancé had to interrupt her cleaning to let her know we ate our entire meal without water . The food was great drinks were tasty , but the service was horrible . Side note we walked out the door at 3:02 I hope she was happy to be rid of us quickly
Great food in a great location. We visited on a Saturday afternoon and had no wait. The restaurant was busy but didn't feel crowded. The menu offerings are great. They offer something for everyone and have some fun twists. All of our food was fantastic! The restaurant inside and out was clean, the building well maintained, and the bathroom was clean. Our server was friendly but may have been new and a bit overwhelmed. My only complaint was that parking was a bit difficult. Definitely will go back asap!
