We are frequenters of Los Amigos and consistently have good food. In my opinion, if a Mexican restaurant is consistently good, it's better than 95% of Mexican restaurants. So many of these restaurants are hit or miss depending on who's working but Los Amigos is always at least alright!
Stayed near the airport on business and drove to this restaurant because it had the highest rating around. Chicken fajitas were awesome.
Delicious Mexican cuisine and the best chips & salsa in town! Portions are generous. If you like a strong margarita get Hector's special. Quick and prompt service
I enjoyed the service however the food wasn't very good. Chips and salsa were great so we ordered the guacamole. It tasted like it came out of a squeeze tube and not at all fresh. I had fish tacos and they were so bad- frozen fish (sticks?) With dried out slaw to top it... I paid way too much for those and only ate the side (rice and beans- which were delicious). I'd definitely steer anyone clear of my order. My boyfriends meal was better, a traditional steak burrito. Also, the margaritas were good because I tasted no alcohol... but also I'd like to have a slight taste of tequila. All in all, don't order the fish tacos or the guac.
I've been to a couple of Mexican restaurants in my short time living in East Tennessee, and Los Amigos has been my favorite thus far. The staff seemed genuinely pleased to see us and was very attentive. The food was a terrific and the portions were generous for a fair price.
We went here based on the positive reviews. However our experience wasn't as positive. The gruff host told us our table, asked if we wanted a menu, as if it was an issue. Then took our drink orders. He returned with menus & practically threw them down. Someone else brought our drinks & took our order. That server was nice. Food is typical Americanized Mexican. Salsa is like tomato sauce with a little heat. When our food finally arrived, about 30 minutes later, my husband's food was not as he ordered. I was half way finished when server came back & had given him some of my food. He couldn't eat his food because he is allergic to the item found in his food. Manager removed his from our bill.
The place was very lean. Our server was friendly and came by a couple of times just to ask if there was anything we needed. A little slow and only a few people inside but there were a number of people call in to place orders and no one looked as though they were not busy so I didn't mind the wait time. The food was okay. Good enough to finish but nothing that inspired me to go back. Overall it was a positive experience. Just not one I'll do again any time soon.
Have eaten typical Mexican entrees (tacos, enchiladas, fajitas, etc.) here several times, dine in as well as takeout. Food has always been very good and cooked fresh. Portions are plentiful. I really enjoy the chips and salsa! Owners and staff are very friendly and accommodating.
Great stop for a nice meal. This place has been around for so long yet it's always good. Would return here next time I'm in town.
