my family and i have eaten here several times over the years. it keeps going down hill each time. i hate to post such a negative review but Saturday was the worst dining experience i have had in my entire adult life. Cherokee used to be an amazing family steakhouse and atmosphere. now it is a haven for drunks. and the live music was just loud and loud and louder. there was no escape from it. every time they opened the door to the outside dining area, diners on the inside were covering their ears and taking headache pills. it was horrible noise. and then, this tiny little menu. and drunks everywhere, even letting their infants play on the table and destroy Cherokee property. no accountability whatsoever and not held to any. and $36 for a ribeye and the only seasoning it had was the water from the microwave it was defrosted in. i have loved this place for over 20 years. Saturday, it cost me and my family $220 to decide to never go here again. the drunks can have the place. it is no family dining experience any more.
We have been regulars at Cherokee for the last 3 years, even in the winter. I have to say that the food and service is going down the drain. I remember when you could have one of the best steaks in town. Service was k. Now 2 hours waiting to get a table, no reservations unless you know the owner. When you get a table, if you order the food at the bar and arrive with your food at the table (after 2 hour waiting at the bar) area waitress would not bring you silverware or water, or just acknowledge you.
The restaurant has gone downhill. It is not a steakhouse and the food is not good. It’s terrible actually. There’s like a sirloin and a filet on the menu! That is not a steak house nor hand cut! Been twice, once after reopening and again in May. Also, all 16 teenagers thought it wasn’t good and would not go back. I will NOT return. The place is dirty and musty smelling inside. It’s a great place for getting off the lake for a drink and music and not for going out to dinner.
We called the restaurant to see if they had recently renovated due to our last visit a few years ago was dirty and the food was terrible. They said it had been renovated, so we went and it didn't look any different from the last time and the food wasn't any better. We were informed upon entry that Saturdays they have a limited menu due to they have bands on Saturdays. A couple behind us left but we stayed due to we were celebrating a birthday and didn't want to try to find another place, even though there were only three of us. We were seated and our server told us they were out of two of the few items they offered that night, so there wasn't much of a selection to select from.Long story short, the server was nice but the restaurant food and cleanliness wasn't good at all.We would not recommend this restaurant for various reasons. It's a shame.....Years ago, this used to be a really nice restaurant and it had great food and was known for their great steaks. Now it's run down, unclean and has cheap tables an chairs that look and feel to be extremely old.So disappointing to see a "Once Wonderful Restaurant" to be so bad now.
So sad to eat at what was once such a great restaurant today. Gone are those days. Our server was good. The chicken was too tough to eat. What happened to this place??? Do not recommend for food. Stick to appetizers maybe. Idk. Disappointed
Don't come on Saturday night!!!! Menu is a joke. Hot dogs burgers. What a joke not what I come to Cherokee STEAK HOUSE for. I was trying to take my in-laws to a great place. I will never be back. There's should be some mention of concert night some where
Tasty drinks and appetizers. Excellent atmosphere. Will definitely be going back to try their dinner
I was very disappointed ? we ordered the nachos and I feel they would have been good but they were cold not even warm. For our entree we got a chicken Philly again the flavor was good but it was cold the cheese wasn't even melted and it took 30 minutes for us to get it. The only thing that was hot was our fries. Our son got chicken tenders and the chicken was cold but fries were hot. I had to go to the bar to get refills our waitress was nice but didn't check with us and we never even got napkins the whole time I had to get bev naps from the bar.
Our family of six went for brunch for Mother's Day. Arrived at 12:45 to find a very harried hostess who was too busy to even get our names on the waiting list or the people in front of us, who'd been waiting 10 minutes. She finally got our names (never smiling) and said she was having to bus tables, host, etc. and had been called in at the last minute. No amount of friendliness on our part managed to make her more relational. After we were finally seated, our server arrived at our table after about five minutes and explained the buffet. The food was marginal - mostly fried stuff, and the mashed potatoes w/skins were bland. Nothing was bad, but nothing was really good. And we had to ask multiple times for various things like tartar sauce, knives, etc. On top of it all, the cost was about $20/person (I didn't see the actual bill, but for two of us it was around $50, all in, except for a tip). I've heard about this place for years, and maybe their dinner menu is better, but I'd skip the brunch. For us, this was one and done.
