I came into town for a work related trip, and this restaurant had been recommended as a local spot to try. I ordered the dinner combo for the chicken with broccoli, fried rice, and an egg roll. I also added sweet and sour sauce because I love to eat that with my egg rolls.I have never had a clear sauce with my chicken with broccoli. It threw me for a loop, but I tried it. I was not a fan. The chicken, broccoli, and carrots were all very plain. The chicken tasted similar to chicken that literally has zero seasoning on it. I was disappointed because I was really looking forward to this meal. However, I thought the vegetables were cooked well. There wasn't much flavor, but it was not too hard nor too mushy. The fried rice was not what I was expecting. It was just brown looking rice. There was no egg, peas, carrots, or a single vegetable in the rice. It was just rice that was brown. The egg roll was overcooked to where you could taste that it was actually burnt on one side. Besides being burnt, the egg roll was really good, especially with the sweet and sour sauce. If it was not burnt, it would have been absolutely incredible. The location is in a pretty decent area as far as I could tell as someone who does not live in town. The ordering process in the store was simple, and the wait time was reasonable.I am giving this a two star rating because the food was incredibly poor. I was raised in the family that does not ever waste food because food costs money, and therefore, if you waste food, you are throwing away money. I actually threw away about half of this food because even drenching it in the sweet and sour sauce was not enough to fix the issues for me.
My favorite Chinese takeout spot. They no longer do their own deliveries, but maybe that’s an improvement.I’ve ordered from them for years now, always good quality and they usually have some promotions running.
Great food! We will be back
Needed some late night food on a trip, Zhu Garden did not disappoint! Fresh and delicious. Make sure to order your chicken extra crispy! Super sweet and patient staff.
The wonton soup was not as as good as it has been watered down. Food was average and the prices are up. Don't know if it has a new owner. Has always been good in the past
Ordered to go and they called to say that the order was ready? Picked up the food, good thing they asked for a tip when we ordered, oh, and don’t forget the service charge! Food was worse than heat and eat from Kroger. So sad to see a good spot go down. They will not be open in 12 months.
1st time trying Zhu Garden. Very disappointed. General So chicken nasty, salty and burned. Shrimp fried rice, soggy, shrimp was spoiled (had to throw out), also salty. Shrimp lo mein, salty, burned. Mongolian beef, too salty.Spring roll, undercooked and pasty. Will not return, live and learn. Someone is heavy handed with the salt there. Recommend to avoid this place.
Ive been getting lunch here for probably close to ten years now. I love their hot and sour soup , better than any other ive had anywhere. Nice family owned and operated restaurant. They are always friendly and fast .
This was my first time ordering from this place. Ordered the Gen. Tso's chicken with Lo Mein noodles. Both were overcooked and the chicken was heavily salted. Would not recommend and definitely will not be eating from this place again.
This is our go-to Chinese food place in Cedar Bluff. It’s typical “American” Chinese food — the General Tso’s, Sesame Chicken, Kung Pao Chicken and Beef with Broccoli are all exceptionally good. They also make a good spring roll, recently with a little hint of spice. Their chicken fried rice is on point, too. Reasonably priced lunch specials, with dinner prices a bit higher, albeit for more food. The staff has also always been very friendly. Always look forward to picking up Zhu Garden for lunch or dinner.
