The atmosphere is nice. The staff is attentive and friendly. The drinks were well made. However, the food was very sub par for the price. I ordered the seafood pasta and it was not good at all. It felt like a waste of money. I took most of it home & stop somewhere else for a small bite. The chicken two piece dinner my friend ordered was good, the mashed potatoes with gravy were awesome. My daughter had chicken fingers with fries but her fries were over cooked without any salt or seasoning. This place is not bad it’s doable but not somewhere I’d necessarily want to go back to.
Nice spot for some comfort food! I ordered online, and from the moment I came to pick up to the moment I left, I had excellent customer service. If I wasn’t passing through Knoxville, I would have sat down and ate there because of everyone being so accommodating. And the food was excellent! Even my picky little brother enjoyed everything he ate. He and I especially enjoyed the chicken tenders and sweet potato waffle fries. Would go back in a heartbeat!
After a restaurant down the street snubbed us, my wife and I went to Southern Grits, and I am so glad we did. We were greeted at the door and seated right away. The food was excellent as was the service. My wife had the chicken pot pie, and I had the meatloaf. The portions were good-sized, and the value is excellent. Would definitely go back.
One of our go to restaurants in Knox, always consistent and delicious!!!
Decided to come for lunch and was not disappointed. I ordered salad and the shrimp and grits without the shrimp so they added extra sausage. It was so good I couldn't stop eating even though I was full. My brother ordered chicken tenders, mac n cheese. Ms. Candy was the perfect host. Fast friendly service. Check them out.
I was in town with friends and they took us to Southern Grit and it was fantastic. I have no complaints and my Southern Mess sandwich was phenomenal. It’s an aesthetically pleasing space with nice staff, great food, and reasonable prices. Wish I could have tried more things on the menu to be honest. Can’t wait to come back when we visit Knoxville, TN again.
A shop owner recommended that we try this place. They were a little busy when we arrived but we were seated quickly. I just had a salad. It was fresh and pretty. I added grilled chicken which was flavorful. Hubby got the pot pie. He enjoyed it even though it is not what he expected. Biscuits were good maybe a little dry but good flavor. Server was nice and attentive.
Love the place and McKenzie has a Wonderful personality and makes great drinks I love her as my bartender!
The Big Easy sandwich, Cobb salad, grits, and hash brown casserole were so good there wasn't time to photograph them. The mimosas were also great, and a 2nd round survived until I remembered to take a picture.
So this was totally a new experience... we were on the big table by the front window, because we had a larger group, and the synergy was electric with the people inside and out of the restaurant. The menu had a cool choice of down home southern foods and the service was impeccable. Thank you Blake for helping on the front end and Josh providing great service. Y'all should check out this place in the Old City. I had the Shrimp and Grits which rocked. We'll be back. Thank you.
