We love this place and I would happily give it 5 stars if I was only basing it on my tastes. I'm docking it a point for a shortage of non-spicy options. Our kids prefer to eat something other than the typical kid's menu items. We keep coming back to SoKno because we (the adults) love the Thai Mushroom tacos and the vegetarian options in general, but most of menu is on the spicy side. I acknowledge, it's a taco place, some spice is expected, but when we need a place that works for our entire family/guests we might have in town. With more varied tastes, those non-spicy options become more important. But, if you can take spice, try the Thai Mushroom tacos. You will not be disappointed!!
This restaurnt came with recommendation from a local. It was lunchtime and they had tables - so in we went. The service was fairly attentive, and the food was excellent. I had quesedilla with carnetas, the others all had tacos and all said they were good. Certainly better than the more recent reviews.
We’ve eaten here before and it was good, but lately I can tell the quality has been going downhill… Got the steak burrito to go (5/22/22), and “tasteless mush” the best way to describe our most recent dining experience. The “steak” tasted like dry ground beef, and that’s what made up 90% of the very burned burrito. Overall, the consistency was pretty similar to my dog’s canned stew… The structural integrity of the two burritos we received were nonexistent, and they were leaking onto the entire bag before opening—what a mess! I was pretty hungry after a long hike, but this was not worth the calories! Glad we got chips on the side! Not worth the almost $30 for a dinner for two!
I highly recommend SoKno Cantina! I’ve been going here for years now, and they have been consistently amazing! I’ve only had the quesadillas and tacos, but I’ve never heard anything bad about anything else. Very fresh and good!
First visit to this quaint but fantastic gem. Tacos are the thing and you can get them everywhere. But not like these. I got the Carne Asada lunch meal. 2 delicious tacos, chips and Pico de Gallo salsa. Recommend getting everything on your taco. Prices are really good and staff was super friendly and very responsive. Parking was easy in easy out and entry of parking. Patio for nicer days looked well kept, our visit was a little chilly so stayed inside.
Great food. Decent price. Service has gone downhill quick. We used to go and get greeted within minutes, but lately we don’t get greeted for at least 10-15 minutes. Takes about 15 minutes to get drinks, and when they finally come around to get our order it takes about 30-45 minutes to get our food. During that time you would think a server would come over to make sure your drinks are full and see if you need anything but that never happens. Used to love the place, now it’s kind of an afterthought.
Amazing food, margaritas, and atmosphere. You've got to go!
This used to be one of my favorite spots but sadly has changed a lot. I get the price increase with everything getting more expensive in the world but the food quality/quantity has also gone way down. The lunch special used to be a deal but now is an okay price for mediocre food. There are for sure better taco places in Knoxville worth checking out. Staff is still kind but it’s gonna be hard for me to find a reason to return.
Worst service I’ve ever experienced. Would review the food but was never seated much less served after 2 hours and multiple parties that entered after us seated. We had a larger size party of 8. They continued to seat 2 people at one of the only 2 8 tops available. Extremely rude manager, not accommodating.
The worst service I have at a restaurant. Set and waited for 2 hours after being told for a 45 min wait. We sat at the bar table waiting, and was told we couldn't eat at the bar table and no chairs. The hostess then moved us from to table for a group to set a group just came through the door. It gets better, gets them the extra chairs after telling us we couldn't and we had elderly family members with us. We didn't even get offered chips.
