all the 5 stars are confusing until you remember youre in knoxville and people here will eat any swine slop you give them. couldn't believe how high our total was for 2 chicken based entrees, 1 veggie side, 2 egg rolls and one drink. over fifty dollars for utterly mediocre food. told they were "out of fried rice" ?? you just fry the white rice in a wok with a few veggies how do you "run out" of fried rice at a chinese restaurant? skimpy pathetic food for extremely high prices. we actually feel anger at how deeply ripped off we were. we should have walked out when we were led past buckets catching leaks from the roof to our table.... im sure this place was good 10 yrs ago but it's long overdue for a mercy kill. avoid at all costs.the one star is for our waiter who was very polite. feel bad for the guy. put this place out of its misery please.
The General Tso's chicken was good and it was a large meal. Some of the best crab rangoon I've ever ate. Great service!
The environment or design doesn’t giving you a happy feeling. I ordered a Malaysian food( chicken sauced turmeric, something like that) the chicken was over cooked and hard to chowing. Very small, and simple plate, few shredded onion, and dried and dark sauce.I talk to the waiter, he said they can add some fresh sauce. They changed about $18.Feel pain in my mouths.
I had the chicken curry basil lomein and it was off the chain! Spicy yes, but I have a moderately high tolerance for spicy and the spicy was just right! Girlfriend had the chicken pad thai with no peanuts and it was also incredible! Spicy as well but perfectly spicy.. perhaps the serving size for the pad thai could have been larger but honestly the size for me was just right.. filling but not too much to eat! I also recommend dining in! So quaint and atmospheric.. I feel as though take out doesn't give a great representation of the food. Our food was served to us piping hot!

Plum Tree was a favorite of mine for years, but after moving further east, it wasn't as convenient. I ordered tonight since I was nearby. It was like greeting an old friend - all my favorites were still as wonderful. I ordered soup, eggrolls, amazing crab ragoon, beef & brocolli. Did I mention the crab ragoon? NO ONE makes them like this! They even gave me sweet & sour sauce for dipping! Will be back soon!!!
Best Chinese takeout place in Knoxville as far as I’m concerned. If you like beef and broccoli, this is the place to get it: Plum Tree’s beef is always perfect. You’ll never get weird texture or a funny taste. Well run business, friendly staff A+
This was our first visit. The combination rice (curry style) is awesome! The service was excellent. The prices are reasonable. We will be back!+ They do have a drive through for call in orders!
Late one evening we were driving the pike after some shopping, looking for a Chinese restaurant to stop at for dinner. One of our party noticed the Plum Tree on the left, and we pulled into the small parking lot in front. Sure, the building itself seemed a bit worn, but I thought the interior decor and layout of the place showed an interesting character that one doesn't see in a lot of the more modern metro kind of Asian eateries. Most importantly, the service was prompt and polite, and the meals were tasty and ample. I was glad we found the Plum Tree that evening, and we won't hesitate to stop there again next time we're passing through.
