My family and I have purchased pick up orders from here twice. We were impressed both times. Flavors, portions, appearance and taste are all good.
Haven’t eaten here in about 3 yrs or so, as we now live in Gatlinburg. But the few visits before just weren’t as good as when this place first opened. I remember a simple menu, executed perfectly, and best of all, at a good price. But then the menu changed, among other things, and we just quit going. Fast forward a few yrs, we were in west Knoxville shopping, and had the craving for some Chinese. The menu has changed again and again, and probably not for the better. I think they try too hard to appeal to way too many folks. Ordered my usual Kung Pao chicken, with steamed white rice. My wife had the sweet n sour chicken with sauce on the side. Both dishes were good, but the sweet n sour wasn’t as good as other versions I’ve tried. I like their version of Kung Pao to an extent, but wish it was more like the original recipe used when they first opened(similar to PF Chang’s). Everything sounds great, except the portions. Our dinners used to come on a larger serving plate, but are now served in a plastic bowl. I get that the stupid covid thing has been used to keep from having to use dish ware; and I’m ok with plastic: But my problem is the servings are literally half what they were, and that’s unacceptable. Overall, I’m not sure I can recommend Pei Wei these days. If I did go back, I’d have to complain, and that’s just not my MO. But if the restaurant did read reviews, my advice is to do away with the idea of less portions, unless you’re feeding a small child.
This visit was about two months ago however I had to go back and make sure I dropped a line for the team to let them know how delicious my meal was! I have not had Peo Wei in seven or eight years prior to this visit and boy it didn’t disappoint!
I have ordered from Pei Wei multiple times and every time it has been delicious! I would recommend it to anyone who wants so yummy food!
I've always liked pei wei as sort of the diner form of PF Changs and part of that same brand umbrella. Even when I was vegetarian (probably more when I was vegetarian). They have excellent sauces that make for savory, sometimes sweet or spicy dishes. They know how to handle tofu to give it that firm crust that I loved. And their new spicy menu items are a nice background burn.Plus on Tuesdays you can get 99 cent eggrolls.
So, we ordered three entres today and it was our first ever order at Pei Wei (with high expectations), and guess what! The food was so less that even my 6yo asked for more food after finishing her entire plate. To top on that, we called Pei Wei to tell them that the food was extremely less and they just said "ok, thanks" ?. Never ever, any restaurant have been so rude in their response to an unfulfilled service to its customer.
General TSO was the best I ever had, however someone needs to explain to them, when you order fried rice, it's supposed to have vegetables in it
Amazing tofu! The spice was perfect! Shrimp appetizer was perfect! Friendly staff as well.
We stopped there for lunch today, and were disappointed in the food. The Kung Pow shrimp was so spicy it left an aftertaste for hours and the noodle dish was so hot it took 20 minutes to be edible. We won't eat there again.
Today was the second time I had visited. Today was my birthday. Had met my parents there for dinner at 7. ( I didn't know they closed at 8) service was great. I ordered the pad thai with chicken. Yummy ! Had enough to save for another meal.
