This place is on campus. Its packed with nostalgia. The food is great. Stop by and keep it thriving.
First of all, I would like to say that we were stranded after a concert and everything, I mean EVERYTHING was shut down. No food. Nothing. And the bar we were at was shut down early. We aimlessly happened upon Gus’s and our night became infinitely more magical from there. We were greeted by a small, yet happy and enchanting man, who recommended we try the patty melt. He also slightly insulted us for being indecisive, in a charismatic and colloquial way that only a local could do, making us feel a special Knoxville welcome. He literally came outside and let us know we could eat our food on his truckbed as well, since there was no where for us to eat while we waited for our Uber. Southern hospitality at its best. This patty melt we had, not only satisfied our hunger cravings but it had the crunch of a grilled cheese, the thickness of a hometown burger, and the perfectly seasoned fries of a food network television show’s dreams. There is no one who should not eat here. We will come back every time we are in town. I will never stop recommending this place. When I bit into my patty melt, I exited my earthy body. Seriously. Instead of reading this review, you should be in line getting your heavenly meal from Gus’s. America, you’re welcome. 10/10 would recommend 100% of the time.
Cheap, fast, and tasty sandwiches. Always gives you lots of fries on the side. Probably one of my favorite Phillies in town.
This place was great and very yummy. The man at the counter was nice and I had a great experience.
I really enjoyed my philly steak from here. It was super, super good and I ate the entire thing. The people that were with me that day ordered different things and were not at all pleased. So, I guess if you're looking for a good Philly steak, this is a good place to go!!
I been going here for years. But the new younger guy in the front IS VERY RUDE. His attitude ruined the whole place for me. I’ve also told all my friends and family about this and they all agreed to boycott until the attitude has changed.
Great reviews on TA. Not so great experience. Staff was overly nice. Food was just ok. We can see why students would love it. Cheap, fried and they serve 40 oz tall boys ;)
Over 30 years I've been going. Love the corned beef! Another fave is the steak in a sack. I love the nostalgia and memorabilia inside. This is a staple when I visit Knoxville.
This is a staple of UTK and its easy to see why. Andy and the gang sling the meanest sandwiches in town and the fries are exceptional.
Nice deli, the gyro was good and fries were quite salty. The shrimp basket looked good also. Nice and clean with a wide variety of drinks on the wall
