Tasty, yes. But not your authentic tamales whatsoever. I was hoping for REAL Mexican tamales, but they will suffice. Tasty, fresh, and hot. Just if you’re used to traditional tamales, don’t come with high expectations. They won’t disappoint on flavor just on tradition.
Absolutely love this place. The Vegan Soul is amazing, and I am not vegan. You literally cannot go wrong with anything. Sides are great, every tamale I’ve tried is delicious.
Got the chicken curry and the classic, both of them hot and fresh! Which is rare in this time we live in. The salsa served on the side was also crisp and fresh. Customer service was great. Atmosphere was chill and relaxing. Great prices and they have TOPO CHICO vern would be impressed.
Just the BEST tamales anywhere!! They serve several meat-based and several vegan/veggie options. Their collard greens are very well cooked…and they are vegan.
These tamales are made by magic elves, you can’t convince me other wise. It’s a nice industrial chic atmosphere. You won’t be disappointed.
I've been going to Good Golly Tamale for years now and there aren't enough superlatives to describe what a local treasure these people are. The menu is small. There are a handful of items that you can count on always being on the menu, and there are always a few new items to try. There are selections for vegetarian, vegan and carnivore. There is a good selection bottled/canned drinks in the cooler. There are a few sides and cookies that are always worth trying.The tamales are the star of the show. This is a 21st century American reimagination of the traditional tamale taken to the level of art. It's hot, it's fresh, it's flavorful, it's satisfying and it's affordable. The owners and staff are as nice a group of people as you will ever meet.The modestly sized eat-in dining room is clean, comfortable and attractive being neither pretentious kitsch-rustic nor affected urban-hip.The location is in an older part of downtown Knoxville. Free on-street parking is a half block away (to the south and east, on Willow Avenue: an easy walk.) Limited metered on-street parking is available on Central Avenue, directly in front of the building and on Jackson to the northeast.I have never once been disappointed in any order or in any service from these fantastic people. Full marks all around. One of Knoxville's most consistently excellent small restaurants. .
Amazing food and service. The quaint atmosphere makes it a chill spot for lunch. The smell inside of their cooking tamales is so tantalizing. Very affordable as well.
Ran across vegan tamales here on our way through town. The Vegan Soul Tamales with blue corn, black eyed peas, sweet potato and collards with a side of collards were delish.
Amazing! We found this place by using a gluten free app and it did not disappoint! Super cute funky place. We loved the tamales so much we took 6 more back to Atlanta to have later. Highly suggest. We got the cheese poblano which had amazing stringy cheese inside, chorizo which had a great kick to it, pork and the classic. Couldn't decide which was best. They were all amazing. Fun beverage choices too. Will definitely go back when we head to Knoxville again.
Awesome local establishment. The chicken tinga and Vegan soul are great, and that’s saying something cause I’m a MEAT eater.Everything is house made, from the lard to the salsa, all ingredients are well sourced from quality farms which leads to HUGE flavor.Owner is generous and service is very good.
