Cracker Barrel never disappoints! The only fly in the ointment was a hostess who was apparently having a blah day. There was no smile nor any lilt in her voice. Then, in spite of the fact that one person in our group was using a cane and obviously having a hard time walking, she took us to the farthest section of the restaurant.On the other hand, our waitress was exceptional.
I have to say the waiter I had was the BOMB ( Joseph). This is a man that actually loves to make his customers enjoy their Cracker Barrel experience. He was by far the best waitstaff at any Cracker Barrel I've visited in my travels. I've noticed over the years that the quality of food has definitely suffered. Portions are definitely smaller, Chicken and dumplings are more dumplings and a piece of chicken, hashbrown casserole use to be served in a generous heaping side bowl, now its like a tablespoonful on your plate. The food has NO Consistency across the board.
I'm giving 2 stars because the food was great. Didn't mind the wait which was quicker than estimated, but the hostess sat us at a table that only had 3 chairs when we had a party of 4, walked off before we could say anything so we had to take from another table. Server was slow, multiple people had to wait on refills, check was wrong up incorrectly and when asked server about it, she became argumentative and I asked for the manager who "fixed" the receipt and it was still wrong, had to wait in line to pay as the customer in front of me also had a horrible experience and was speaking with the manager. My family and I frequent this location but I think I'll go to one of the many other Knoxville locations for the next little while until they can get some new staff.
The curbside ordering was horrible, it took an hour and 3 calls in the store the get my food, drove home with the food and it was wrong, drove back for a refund and to speak to the manager. The manager would not come out and speak with me about the horrible service. I will never go there again.
Usually things are good. However, what the heck is this plastic in the gravy?!?Two months later, and this location is getting worse with to go orders. App doesn't work. Online ordering doesn't work. Then to find out at the register they now charge $1 more to get the sugar cured ham instead of the country ham
Usually have no problems with Cracker Barrel’s but this one is the worst!! Our waitress(Heather) had not even taken our order or came to the table after 20 minutes. Then she started taking other peoples orders that came in after us. When my daughter said something about it she was very rude about it. I was waiting to order before I used the restroom but it was taking so long so I went to the bathroom and that’s when she decided to take our order and then got rude and rolled her eyes when my daughter told her that I had to go to the restroom. Don’t go to this one and if you do if you request not to sit in Heather section. We took our money to a more deserving business.
The Cracker Barrel on south mall rd is extremely ridiculous!!! I understand it’s a snow day and most places are short stuff but to be waiting 30 mins watching everyone that came AFTER us get greeted and placed their orders before we even order our drinks is plain out stupid. Then when we our waitress (heather) finally came over to us she was extremely rude and rolled her eyes repeatedly. Do better Cracker Barrel.
Should have learned this first time when this happened. Very dysfunctional. Expect to wait 30+ min on a curbside order that you order ahead of time, and even then, when they finally came out, 3 sides were missing. This is the second time my order has been screwed up. I’m glad I checked my bag before I left the parking lot. I won’t be back; this includes my family as well.

Had the best, most friendly service today. No wait to be seated. Two in our party. Ordered the catfish with pinto beans and hash brown casserole, and the maple bacon bbq chicken with macaroni & cheese and okra. The food was hot and fresh. Our glasses never got empty. It's so refreshing to still find good service out there!
