CLOSED DUE TO GAS PRICES!!this can be due to a few things, either employees traveling from out of town to work there, and or gas to run their hibachi grill is now overwhelming. disappointing for many. review is for overall aspect not the sushi. sushi in my view was the best in kingsport. for taste and price alone beating the other 2 business that serve sushi in the area. even if the order wasnt deep fried made, ask, and they shall do if reasonable. that aspect alone was fantastic. the service in my view was very good, especially at the counter. ive only dined inside a handful of times due to reasons mentioned below. service for that aspect varied. everyone has an on and off day in life, specially in food service serving the public. as far as the food. in my view it is/was lacking. carrots canned, but i can get passed that, thats an affordable step for them. rice off the hibachi was ok. all else was to be desired. veggies cooked with the meat should be crisp, have life to it, instead it turns to mush consistency as it is cooked with the meat. thats the onions, peppers, and broccoli if thats what is ordered. they cook all together which is fine in the order but when adding the cooking sauce for the flavor its as if they are blanching/ stewing it while covering which can make all to mush as well as overcooking the meat selected. maybe others might, or overlook this aspect but i am not choosing sirloin or beef tenderloin to eat to have it turned into steamed shoe leather. a few times i have asked to please cook the meat separate from the veggies in the order, that way it can be at least medium. but for speed purposes they do not as i have found out about 5 times. if it was the regular yakiniku i wouldnt mind as that is a affordable dish anyway, but when paying more for a better alternative, thats a little disappointing. other places do listen, why they can not im not sure. that reason is why i do not dine in or take out japanese from there anymore. the sushi is fantastic, always fresh made to order in my experience. such as shame for many that this place is now closed for now due to gas prices. if they were making a killing maybe they wouldnt be open. past 2 years have effected all causing many to make changes in life not just business wise. but with rising gas prices now it is very difficult for many to retain their life if traveling is involved.
Food was average, service slightly above average, food selection was quite basic, with no option for sticky rice. The carrots were obviously canned, and mushy rather than freshly cooked.
I've eaten here in the restaurant twice lately. I used to get takeout from Moto's, but started going to a drive-through Japanese place for lunch instead (even though it isn'tas good as Moto's - it is convenient).I digress.Moto's has amazing, perfectly-cooked scallops. They consistently have the best hibachi food in Kingsport. And their sushi is good. The people are always nice. Great dining experience.
I/ we! My husband and I absolutely love Moto's. Especially the soup broth and salad they keep bringing lol. Definitely go there!
Food seems good just dimly lit. to me it needs a good dusting but my wife says I look to closely ?
Delicious food. Great service!!
My whole family loves motos, the food is always consistently good. We have been pretty disappointed with how early they’ve been closing lately. Came around 8 o clock and they had completely closed up and weren’t seating more guests. Other than that the food is great and service is typically good.
Unless you have time to sit and wait or eat in, don't bother. They NEVER answer the phone you either get a busy signal or it rings and says to enter a remote access number. That last few times we eat there the food wasn't fresh either.
First time here. The food wasn't bad, but I was extremely disappointed in the shrimp. More specifically the size. I ordered the steak and shrimp. Like I said, the flavor was good, but this is the very first time when ordering Japanese that they used extra small shrimp, and that is not an exaggeration. Shrimp sizes range from "extra small" to "extra colossal." Extra small are mainly used on salads. In my opinion it's quite sad that they would use them in an entree. I will not be spending anymore of my money here.
They have the Best onion soup I have ever tasted. I had the chicken and rice and it was delicious. They have sushi and many other dishes like carrots and zucchini and onions etc. First time there and when I'm back in Tennessee I will be going back.
