Use to be the best Japanese food in Johnson City not anymore. First of all no salad! Next the Yaki tasted like processed meat. The shrimp sauce was almost white it was so watered down. Won't be back
Ate dinner there tonight and out of all the restaurants we have been to all over the world. We were ask to leave at 8:03. They closed at 8 that was the rudest comment to make to a customer. The food wasn’t that great anyways and the waiter wouldn’t even take an extra glass off the table.. very rude. We will not be back
Amazing food! Absolutely love when I can get it. Only reason for 4 stars is cause the price has went up a bit this past year & you don't get a salad (or soup) with meals.. or at least I haven't the past 3 times I ate there.
The food is good, nothing special, but it's good. The worst thing about it is they don't offer salad with your meal! Every Japanese restaurant I've ever been to offers salad with your meal! Until they bring salad back we'll stuck with Misaki, Moto and Miso because for our family, the side salad makes the meal!
Having lived in Japan I have to say, this is not Japanese food. At best, it is a poor imitation with low quality ingredients. When i received my food, the rice was so soggy it was inedible, along with the broccoli and veggies the dish came with. To top that off, whatever sauce they covered it in was so salty that it masked any other flavor the dish may have had. The service was ok, but that's about it.Japanese cuisine revolves around using fresh vegetables and ingredients that accents the natural flavors of the dish. I chose the one I believed would be closest to this aspect, and it failed miserably.I will not be going back.
Just one time to try, never again.if you are looking for an authentic food this place is a no no. Their microwaveable rice wasn’t even cooked. Clean place but the food wasn’t great.
I order a Mello Yello it was bad just SOME LIGHT yellow coloring and carbonated water no favor. Owner would not make it right said it was fine but would not sample it so charger me anyway $2.50 for a .20 fountain drinks would not ask if I wanted anything else 100+% PROFIT on a drink. I will go somewhere else next time NOT as good as before DAMPAMIC. PANDEMIC INGREDIENTS SO SO ON SHRIMP SAUCE!
Holy moly do I miss this place! Whenever I go back to Johnson City, this will definitely be on my list of places to stop by. Just thinking about their combination dinner makes my mouth water. Some of the best food I've ever had the pleasure of eating!
What has happened to Yamatos !! I haven't ate there since they moved and it was terrible. The rice was mushy and not even fried , the carrots were not even sweet, and the shrimp sauce was sour tasting . I'm so disappointed in this place . I will find somewhere else to eat Japanese food.
Place is a really good Japanese restaurant. I have never had bad food there .I recommend the house special.Its filet steak with carrots an mushrooms along with fried rice an dumplings for under $20
