Typically the food is good if you eat in the restaurant. First time trying togo. They apparently set the togo bag down on a dirty counter because the bottom was covered in cornbread crumbs. I was willing to overlook that. Got the food home, and the boxes of food also had bread crumbs on them, making me think they were using a dirty surface when preparing my food. Their tortilla chips, one of the main reasons I wanted to eat there, were stale and soggy. I tried to overlook that, too. This was not a cheap meal. I personally ordered the Burnt Ends taco as part of a larger order. They may not understand how to wrap togo food, and the effects of steam in making food soggy. The tacos were unevenly sized, the meat was in large chunks, not shredded, and the onion straws had disintegrated into the soggy soft taco shell. The whole thing was mushy and inedible. I don’t like to complain. I try to support local small businesses, but their food quality is not what it once was. I would call the restaurant, but don’t know what good it would do. I will not be ordering togo from them again, and may not be going back there for awhile given how much I paid and how little I got in return.
Went with my family and the brisket was perfect . Had coleslaw and tomato/cucumber salad everything was awesome!
We were recently visiting Johnson City and tried Southern Craft twice. We've eaten all over the south AND the nation and tried every BBQ made. The brisket, pulled pork, burnt ends, and ribs were all incredible and obviously very slow cooked and done to perfection. Their Southern Craft basic sauce was awesome but we didn't care for the other three sauces. The fried green tomatoes and okra were also excellent. The other sides that we tried were average but not bad. I hope they franchise all over the south and can keep their current quality. We bought $200 worth of their BBQ to take back home to the rest of the family and they were also thoroughly impressed and agreed with our opinion.
Highly recommend. Anything with burnt ends delicious, also smoked turkey. Fun, upbeat atmosphere, good service.
A perfect barbecue experience. I’ve recently been put on a strict diet so I wasn’t sure how I was gonna do with barbecue…. But the turkey delivered! There’s also chicken and salmon as well! They have something for everyone. The sides were superb and the sauces maybe the best I’ve ever had! Wonderful trip, gotta go back again and again.
Unique place in downtown Johnson City, alot of BBQ and smoked meat options to choose from, awesome appetizers, and decent pricing. The brisket is phenomenal and the in house bbq sauces are worthy of praise and mention. Highly recommended, staff is very friendly also
Honestly, the staff and restaurant present as they’re all that. They’re not. It will be a while before we go back. Portions are ok. Food is ok. They’re just a bit cocky for what they offer. Simmer down folks.
Great tasting bbq. Very generous portions. Good service and atmosphere. Will be back on trips to Johnson City. Good prices for the amount of food you got.
I was on a business trip and the BBQ here was recommended so I decided to stop by before I left. I'm glad I did because the staff were really nice and the food was very good. I had the ribs, brisket and fried okra which were all very good. I have to admit the BBQ beans were not my favorite but it's still worth a visit for the BBQ and beer. I tried a few different types of BBQ sauce they had available, and I was glad I had a cold pint of beer fresh from the tap to wash it down as the Carolina hog shine sauce was hot.
Went with a large group and had the butcher's block for the table. It was amazing. Added some deviled eggs and fried green tomatoes, pimento cheese, and collard greens. Can't miss.
