The sign is decrepit but the food is fresh. The breakfast bar is replenished through 2pm on the weekends and till 11am on week days. That is the only reason to patronize this place and earned it a whole extra star. The majority of the wait staff is unpleasant and looks as if the customer they are speaking to is a smelly annoyance. A notable exception is Raven who was a delight. Otherwise, the premises is clean and comfortable if a little loud and close-packed. There is an iconic Shoney's gift shop in the front and the strawberry pie hasn't changed.

Took a trip to Johnson City TN and stopped at Shoney’s because we hadn’t been to one in many years. I remember the food being pretty good.I can’t say this about this Shoney’s. I ordered chicken tenders and they were disgusting. Heavily breaded greasy. Not much of a taste. They were over cooked and just gross. My friend ordered a burger and she couldn’t eat it. Nothing tasted good at all. We were going to order the hot fudge cake because that’s what they are famous for but after the bad food we decided against it.Went to the register and was over charged because the bill wasn’t separated correctly. The girl at the register was not friendly and pushy. They did fix our bill correctly but all together we won’t be going back. Our waitress was pretty good but had to ask someone for a refill on my water because she disappeared and I ran out twice.Do not recommend to anyone.

First time visiting and my experience was horrendous. Let me start off with a positive, our waitress was extremely nice and empathetic to what happened. I ordered tenders and my husband a burger. We were enjoying our meal until about 4 bites in my husband found a fried bug on his plate. We called the waitress over and she was so sorry and went back to get someone. I'm not sure if this man was the cook or the manager, but instead of a sorry, he said that bug was not on the plate when he saw it. So my conclusion to his comment was either he feels the bug either miraculously fried itself at our table or we fried a bug at home and brought it in with us. Anyhow, a normal human, our waitress, came back over and was so kind and apologetic. We gave her a tip cause it's not her fault and she was so kind. She told us we obviously didn't have to pay, so we then left and never plan on coming back.

We had the All-star breakfast since we were too late for the breakfast bar. Eggs were perfect, bacon a bit scorched, hashbrown cakes were cooked to order and the coffee and wheat toast excellent. Great selection of Smucker's jams. Only chemical creamer was available for the coffee. Good value and outstanding service. We'll be back to try the desserts!

Watch your credit card.My husband ran his card to pay for breakfast.she told him it didn't take .,to do it again. That breakfast cost us 66.00 dollars. Called manager to tell him he says bring in recite. That's all will and good but when we are back in Ga that's hard to done days sorry nothing they can do. Asked don't they keep a copy he says after closing that goes onto depositJohnson Tn store #4my breakfast was good but mot worth 64 Dollars worth!!!!!!!

Really, the only reason I stopped was to get a hot fudge cake. I haven’t had one in 35 YEARS! I was curious to see if it was as good as I remembered it from my childhood and the answer was YES!!! Even better, it seemed to be double the size, I didn’t dare complain! And, I cleaned my plate. No shame here! ? I forced myself to eat some salad and some fruit so that I wouldn’t feel guilty for indulging in this sinful treat ?? The buffet area was clean and tidy, as was the restaurant in general. The waitresses seemed rushed and/or frustrated, but I could tell that they were trying to be kind and helpful as best they could. I look forward to going through Johnson City in the future so I can stop again for the dessert that I loved most as a child, and believed no longer existed❣️ BTW- My boyfriend is a burger connoisseur & had a cheeseburger and said it was as good as he’d ever remembered. We’ll definitely be back! Hopefully it won’t take 35 years though!

Had the breakfast buffet , waitress asks if I want eggs ? They had no eggs on the table for you to serve yourself. Had to ask for more eggs each time. Sausage and most everything looked shriveled under the heat lap. No pancakes no French toast, no toast period ! Food selection on buffet was very poor!

Delicious breakfast bar. Friendly staff, clean, food was hot, great coffee. We hadn't eaten at Shoney's in a while due to the pandemic so it was nice to go back and find everything delicious as always.

The food wasn't the best. The waitress didn't come back and check on us until we were finished eating. Never refilled our drinks or asked if we needed anything. I had beef tips and couldn't get anyone's attention to bring me steak sauce. My companion had southwestern chicken that was supposed to be covered with pico. The chicken was tough, covered in salsa with unmelted cheddar cheese on top. Wouldn't recommend.

The chicken and shrimp was tough,no dessert bar to speak of. The waitess only wanted to talk about herself. The salad dressing bottles were gooey and sticky. The only redeeming feature was the soup bar and they were hot and delicious. For the price of $36.78 for 2 buffets. It's a lousey deal?
