The food quality was poor. They were out of tamales on a Saturday afternoon. Really??? The waitress said they only make 30 per day. Mercy! The tacos just had protein. Nothing else. The service was fair at best. I heard them say I’m sorry to almost every table around us. I wouldn’t recommend. Too many other better choices.
Holy Taco is a wonderfully inviting atmosphere that suits people from college age all the way to 60-70 years olds that still like to enjoy life. There’s hardly ever bad service that you’ll experience. We come here all the time and if you decide to stop by say hello to lacy, the best waitress you’ll ever find. They don’t have games to play or anything, but the do have singo and trivia. Trivia is on Thursday and they do give out prizes! Their drinks are a great value and they have a standard happy hour on most days!
Me and my son went to boones creek and i wasnt impressed. 1. if your going to claim mexican restaurant then serve actual mexican food. Not chorizo and ground beef. 2. The chicken was extremely dry no flavor. The rice was dry and liked flavor. I would prefer actaul beef tacos not ground beef. The salsa was cold and not true mexican style. Unfortunately due to the menu i only ate the chips and queso. My son wasnt even impressed with his meal. This was a first and last time i will ever go there unless they make changes. I will say i go to many restaurants and do evaluations and this one was not the worst but i cant even give a 3 star. The only good thing going for it was its decor.
We love love love this place and have come here frequently for years but the service quality has decreased. They really need to hire a new service staff member. We sat for 3 hours waiting to leave because we were so infrequently checked on. It was not the wait staff’s fault at all. They were running their butts off. Not a fun experience though.
Boones Creek location. This is my third trip to Holy Taco. I gave this location a chance because it recently opened up and is 3 miles from my house. It was a Friday evening and only 1/3 of the restaurant was full. Yes, I should have known. The food quality and proportions, as the other two locations, was average at best. Nothing that I would revisit again. Our waiter was a …. well, he wasn’t very good with people and zero social skills. I’m a local resident and I am done with this chain. Not worth the money. El Charolais Mexican restaurant or Poblano’s Mexican restaurant is the best around in Johnson City for this type food. Disappointed, once again. Don’t waste your money.

Amazing quesadillas!! The tamales are on point as well. The rice and chips were not warm, so that was a bummer. The main complaint is the beans ~ having kidney beans instead of traditional black beans is fairly odd.
Wonderful wait staff. Our server was wonderful!
We went last night for dinner for our second visit. It is our last. We both ordered taco platters. Beans and rice were just lukewarm, and the tacos weren't even warm. I politely asked the waiter to have my food re-heated. He came back with warm tacos, but the beans and rice were the exact same temperature as when I asked to have them re-heated, namely at room temp. Food servings were small compared to the high price and not worth the extra money. There are at least 2 great Mexican restaurants in the city where you can get great Mexican food served nice and hot at a much lower price.
Both of us got taco's for take out today. I got pork and my guy got chicken. Talk about amazing, the meat was loaded on and cooked wonderfully, salsa was spot on great! Yumm! We'll definitely be back, thanks!!
