My husband & I had been in the National Park all day and had kind of missed lunch so we came here for an early dinner, probably around 4 pm. Few patrons at that time but the staff was very friendly. The house-made chips & hush puppies were a nice change from the normal biscuits or bread basket. My husband had the 'Eisenhower' trout while I went for the butterflied presentation. We both enjoyed our meals a lot. Server was prompt with refills of our drinks.. I massively appreciated the free parking in the lot right across the street, too. Highly recommend.

I had the grilled trout with fried okra. We had fried mushrooms for an appetizer. The trout was incredible and the mushrooms were excellent. It is a small restaurant so expect a bit of a wait but well worth it. Ask for Trudy!

Pouring rain had us decide to eat here as we were walking back from hillbilly golf. WOW! No regrets- we had a variety of food- real chicken strips- burgers- salads and trout- shrimp- baked potato- fries—every item was amazing. Generous portions and super friendly service. The dining room is small so that’s why you see the line- only 10 tables. We ate at 4 on a Sunday and we will be back. It’s on the end away from traffic. We believed all food was fresh and not frozen and perfectly seasoned. Hush puppies and chips as a add on made for great experience.

Wanted local trout dinner. Restaurant is small. We went early and had to wait 20 minutes outside, on the busy street. By the time we finished eating, there was no-one there. They don’t take reservations. Maybe they should. Their signature dish, trout, was below average. They charged us a $5 split fee and didn’t even split it in the kitchen. Would wave split fee if purchased a $7-9 appetizer but not if purchased dessert. Had no wine list, just told us they had chardonnay, merlot etc. Gave us a small pour in small glass for $7. Suspect it came from a box. Waitress was great!

Quaint, good food and service, much needed for an empty stomachs. Next time I’m in town I will stop in for a lovely dinner on the river,

This is one of those hole in the wall type places that has excellent food. Sevice was friendly and good. I am not the biggest fan of trout but even I enjoyed my fish. The hush puppies were the best! If you don't eat fish they do have other dishes but trust me, go for one of the 10 different preparations of trout!

This unassuming family run restaurant is very casual and serves a very limited selection of beer and wine. It specializes in trout and its trout is spectacular. We had broiled rainbow trout and The Eisenhower trout. Both dishes were perfectly cooked. We had a side of the breaded fried mushrooms these also were perfectly prepared and the temperature was spot on. The Trout House is a straightforward no frills restaurant that serves up fantastic trout dinners! It is also exceedingly good value for money.

Food and service was very good. It was not crowded on an April Thursday night. There is free parking directly across the street. Menu is 75% trout entrees. Trout is farm raised in NC per waitress. Restrooms were on second floor, up steep stairs.

We finally ate at the Smoky Mountain Trout House after walking past it so many times. The waitress was good and friendly. My chicken tenders were so good and the kids had a burger and the smoked bacon trout and loved them! My husband had the fried butterfly trout which he didn't love but it was ok. The hushpuppies and homemade chips they bring out were great! We would go there again in the future.

Visited due to a recommendation but was highly disappointed by the food-service was great-my husband ordered the Parmesan trout which tasted like boiled fish; I ordered grilled chicken and it was the worst I had in my life, just salt and the texture was rubbery, side dish of vegetables was straight out of a can, rice pilaf out of a box-not even some butter on it. The only good thing was a baked sweet potato and the hush puppies they gave you as an entree. We love to support small businesses but the food was just bad.
