Love Sopapilla's. It's been one of my favorite Mexican spots since it opened over 12 or more years ago. Good menu selection, food is fresh, and everything has normally been prepared with lots of love. Unfortunately, I think like several small businesses affected by the current economic conditions they've had to raise their prices. Not sure of specific changes or when any of changes occurred but we're entering the beginning of June 2022 and I noticed my lunch bill was just as high as the dinner prices. If you've never been, definitely go check it out and support a local business. They even have a great patio area. Thumbs up!
We went out for dinner with some friends. I wasn’t feeling well, so I just came for the company so I can’t speak on any of the food. The experience wasn’t good. My friends had talked it up so much, so maybe I just had too high of hopes. We arrived at 7:10 for our 7:15 reservation. They explained they were a little behind. Completely understandable; life happens and things get busy! We were seated at about 7:40. Our server didn’t stop by until about 7:55 or so. Only checked on us a few times. Much of the meal, our drinks were empty. Within the 1.5 hour we were at the restaurant, he probably visited us 4 times total. As the night went on, it got less and less busy so I didn’t understand why we weren’t being taken care of. The table behind us wasn’t bussed for 45 minutes (and still wasn’t cleaned off when we left). He didn’t ask us if we needed to split the check (which we did). The most frustrating part of it was that he added 20% gratuity. If we had been 6 people, this would be understandable as the website and menu says “20% gratuity will be added to parties of 6 or more.” But we only had 5 people. I felt taken advantage of. He didn’t even mention that to us. It felt tacky and I just didn’t appreciate it. Felt like he was trying to get more of a tip and hoping we wouldn’t notice that we already paid 20% (on service that truly did not earn it). Will not be back - specifically due to the service and the integrity of the team. *Also, very pricey for the quality.
Love the Atmosphere and pretty good service but food was way over rated. And honestly, I would put this in my top 3 as most overrated and overvalued mexican in Middle TN! Why you ask? Well the food was not very good, and being a real foodie I ordered allot of it. To start ordered the Chilli con queso with added brisket was almost disgusting, like with weird sauce on top of the cheese like an aioli sauce that didn't go well at all. Ordered the bean dip, and was another disappointment. The Chips and Salsa that come free were pretty good!We ordered the skirt steak Fajitas for two. The home made tortillas were under cooked, the ingredients for the portion size was off and doughy, thick and hard to eat. And the steak was over cooked and very bland. You could tell the salt and pepper was actually added after the steak was cooked instead of as it was cooking to add to the natural flavor and juices of the steak. Major bummer...Anyway, we didn't want to try the dessert at this point. I really hoped this would have been a winner but we were $80 into a meal for two and it was best to grab the check and "get out of dodge". Hope this helps you guys. I think a better choice would have been to stop by Uncle Julios in brentwood.
Food was excellent. Had the pick three tacos. Brisket, chicken, pork. Good temperature, very good complementary flavors. Excellent chips. Warm, crispy and very fresh and tasty salsa. Skinny margaritas salt. Great complement to the food. Service of the food was good, but had strange experience with the bartender. Arrived at 8:45pm, posted hours says closes at 10pm. Asked if I could sit at the bar. No one else was there. Hesitant reply. Said her boss asked her not to seat anyone else. I said, OK, I could leave. She said I'll have to check with my boss. I waited, but she continued working and not checking. I waited a few seconds, asked again, is it okay? She replied, Okay, how many? Just one. The service after that was fine and she was pleasant to me, but she complained to someone else there about the work. Talked openly to other employees about other employees that had quit. I suppose all of that had to do with the workload.
Fun brunch spot! Outdoor patio is great on a warm sunny day. Food is so good. Drink specials too for Sunday brunch. Definitely recommend. The manager of this restaurant needs to buy the servers brand new receipt folders. The black small folders are nasty and falling apart!
We had great service and good food. Good chips n salsa, margaritas, grilled pineapple quac, shrimp and grits was fine, and quesadillas.
Great place for New Mexican cuisine. We had friendly service and good drinks. The stuffed pepper was excellent.
We went for a family dinner. Waitress was so attentive. Adult drinks looked spectacular. The food was delicious, spiced well. The guacamole was great with the perfect amount of lime. Husband had street tacos. Even the kids were raving about the mac&cheese and chicken fingers. Food came out hot and fresh.
The service was very slow but I know many restaurants are dealing with this right now. However, the food more than made up for it. the salsas were delicious and the entres we're creative, not your standard cliches.
Friendly staff, great atmosphere, and excellent food. My wife and I have been here multiple times, with my order from our latest visit pictured below (chicken sopapilla, their version of chicken and waffles). Pickled vegetables came on the side, too.We really enjoy each time we dine at this establishment and you will too!
