Satisfying appetizers and craft cocktails. The bacon wrapped figs, pimento biscuits and fried cheese curds were all delicious and complementary of one another. Plus the Back Forty drink is intellectual in its flavor combinations. Hope to get back soon for an entree
We were there on a busy Saturday night only because other downtown restaurants had long wait times. The menu is disappointingly limited to just a handful of entrees. I and a table mate decided on the bone-in pork chop with collard greens and baked beans. My pork chop was very good—cooked just right, still juicy inside the thick cut. My friend said his pork chop was over cooked. The sides of collard greens and baked beans were the disappointing part of the meal. Both were well under-cooked, with the greens tough and the beans just north of crunchy. My friend told the waiter about his disappointment, which got him a complimentary salad. I mentioned my own disappointment, but didn’t rate an offer of replacement or apology. The pork chop was satisfying enough that I would have turned down an offer of anything else, but an acknowledgment would have been appreciated. Bottom line… if you check out a few higher-end restaurants and find all but one booked or with long wait times,, there’s probably a good reason for that.
We stumbled upon this place while visiting from Detroit by chance! Totally made a great day even better!! We had a round of absolutely FANTASTIC drinks (I actually had my first ever bourbon cocktail- Loved it!) and some of the most delicious appetizers as well! We already had plans for dinner later otherwise I know we would have enjoyed anything off the menu. The decor, staff, history was awesome! We enjoyed a short history lesson on the building as we made our way upstairs. I have told at least a dozen people that Gray’s is a must if ever in the area.
Amazing drinks n atmosphere. Food menu is to die for. Absolutely check out if you're in Franklin.
Awesome spot, great food and excellent drinks. The bartender was phenomenal and made some of the best cocktails I’ve had. Very fun to watch him work and give info about the drinks he was making. Bar on second floor was fun, good atmosphere and mix of people. Surf and turf special was incredible. They did a very nice medium rare on the filet.
Very interesting experience. The restaurant itself is very nice. The shrimp and grits were OFF THE CHARTS AWESOME! Everything else was very downhill. Crab Hush Puppies were cold and had zero crab, the bacon wrapped figs were literally black and burnt. I asked the server if the banana pudding was fresh, she said yes. We got it, super small for the price. I didn’t mind it being small at all, just over priced for what we got. Not 1 single real piece of banana, didn’t seem fresh at all, had a fridge taste. It was a bummer to spend that much and had only one thing actually tasted great.
We had our corporate luncheon at Grays on Main today and it was a fun and great experience! Perfect location in downtown Franklin. Our servers, Ray and Stacy, were excellent with the best personalities! The bartenders were fast and efficient. The food was amazing. We had all the appetizers and you cannot go wrong.
Met the owner while on a tour of the town and he was nice and personable and told us a bunch of history of the building. The building is old and you can see the history in it by looking around. Back by the bathroom there is a wall that is plastered with old prescriptions from when the building was a pharmacy. The food was delicious and service was good. It is highly recommended that you call for a reservation in advance or be prepared for a wait.
Has a really disappointing experience at grays last night. My girlfriend and I were having a moms night out and the waiter explained the special for the night was a surf and turf beef tenderloin with choice of scallops or shrimp. I chose the shrimp, and when my plate arrived the dish was underwhelming at best. Later, when I got my bill, I noticed the tenderloin was $55 and an additional $10 to “add shrimp”, which didn’t make sense, but low and behold, the waiter explained the “surf” was not actually part of the dish but an add on with an up charge! So my meal ended up being $65 for one person and it wasn’t even good. On top of that, he explained that the management had instructed that unless some specifically ask that upfront, they don’t share that with customer, cause they feel like they can’t afford it ???
really fun spot in downtown franklin. tasty drinks and the food was delicious from start to finish. our server was super friendly as well. would highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area.
