We really enjoy this place. We’ve been here two Saturdays I. A row for a late lunch. The grilled oysters are my favorite even though they’ve looked different each time I’ve had them. Perhaps different cheeses or herbs were used, but with the same concept. I still loves it. The BBQ queso dip was great, but we didn’t enjoy the chips that came along with it. Not to worry, we packed the dip to go and had it at home with a great movie and the chips we like. We were also lucky to get window seats and enjoyed people watching while we are. The Restuarant does not take reservations, but the wait is short and the food domes out quick. We will probably be back next weekend for our weekly grilled oyster run.

After a 2 hour morning walking tour, my mate and I opted to go to 55 South....what a perfect choice....we were going to get a dessert....but, saw in the menu - seafood gumbo......so we split a bowl....what a great choice, as we both love gumbo...this seafood gumbo was the best.....with a shrimp, or bit of seafood in every bit.....we both were impressed....also, our server Jenny, always came to us with a smile....we loved that...what a great employee you have in Jenny, so attentive & friendly....also while going to the bathroom so many things to look at with your decor. I especially loved the huge GULF oil round sign that was made into a lighting fixture above a big round table....so creative and COOL!!!! we really enjoyed it here, great place to eat in this charming town!!! thank you again....well be back!!!!
The food is excellent. Carlos, the waiter is very good. Unfortunately, Debbi, one of the waitresses is impolite, nasty and rude.
The food was tasty. Love their sweet potato fried. The server was so nice and friendly. Highly recommended.
We wanted to try something different, and the fried pickles with sauce were delicious! The service was great and our hot chicken and rice and beans were soooo good!
What a great place! Great food!!! Go for the shrimp and grits! No, looky here....shrimp and grits! Wait, red beans and rice! With fried chicken. No. The fried catfish. And deviled eggs. And the seafood gumbo! Prepare to eat!Service was great, food was great!Now, we spent a lot on food per person because I had to try multiple things. I couldn't decide.
We enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. Service was fast and friendly. Lots of good options in the area but you can’t go wrong here.
