The food was definitely good and it's food I would for sure eat again, but the service was subpar. First, I was really confused why they had 3 or 4 different waitresses taking care of the SMALL patio instead of just leaving it to one or two. Second, it took over an hour and a half for our food - though my father-in-law never got his and so he finally got his in a to-go box. Third, the bills were completely messed up. I mean it might have been the first time the girl was on her own serving but it was just a hot mess. The first drink I ordered wasn't even what I had ordered!
Very nice server!! Great ahi tuna appetizer. I got petite filet, loader potato. Hubby got lamb chops and Caesar salad. Would go back anytime!
It's our first time visiting the really cool college town of Cookeville, Tennessee and our first time at Spankies tonight, and I must say that the food was absolutely the best food EVER, and our waitress, Lakeland, was absolutely AWESOME!!!!! She took such great care of us! She's definitely THE BEST!!!!! Sandi had Mushroom, Spinach, and Chicken Manicotti in white wine and Asiago cheese sauce while I had a Chicken Quesadilla platter. I have had many Quesadillas in my life from Mexican restaurants, but none have ever been as perfect as the Quesadillas I had tonight! Our appetizer tonight was Queso and chips, and dessert was Salted Caramel Cheesecake! DELICIOUS!!!!!We just cannot say enough about the food, or the service at Spankies! We highly recommend this AMAZING restaurant, and our waitress, Lakeland!!!!!??❤❤ ~Lee & Sandi
I had a very poor experience here while trying to have a nice dinner with my girlfriend. My fish was severely undercooked still very cold to the touch. The rice tasted that of rice cooked more than a day ago. She got the shrimp and scallops only to have two raw shrimp as well. The sauce which was supposedly the selling point of this dish was bland. Our server also made a drug related enuendo while I was making my girlfriend a paper rose. Would not recommend to a friend.
Typical college dive bar with a grill. It was dark, dank, and wreaked of 2nd hand cigarette smoke. Bathrooms were foul, and service was real slow. The food tasted good and portions were large, but it gave me bad heartburn for hours. I'm sure it's a fun hang out for the students, but not a nice place for Sunday dinner. Needs a deep clean with bleach.
Absolutely terrible! My family and I went to Spankies to eat and get a drink at night, and they did not let two of us in! They let the people before us in, and they looked like they were 15. The youngest person in our bunch is 22. So judgmental and rude to all of us! If you are looking for a place to relax and unwind this is not it.
My mom loves this place and I always thought it was a barbecue joint because of my moms taste in food, but it's actually the closest thing to a fancy meal I've ever had. I had the shrimp and scallops and it was delicious!!! I can't even get my scallops at home to taste that good. The plate looked a little odd at first, but I was pleasantly delighted with great flavor once I dug in. Only reason for 4 stars is I ordered adrink I'd never heard of and it was very potent, had to put pineapple juice in it to make it taste. Our waitress was wonderful, though I hate that I didn't get her name. I'll be returning here for a date night here soon no doubt.
Spankies is a great TTU hang out with a lot of great tradition. The food is great and the service is outstanding. If you go for lunch be sure and get the cheese bread! It is dangerously good.
Chicken/mushroom and spinach crepes (the menu called it manicotti) were delishious!! Well aged and well cooked to order ribeye steak too!
I will always love Spankies! The bread is so bad for you which is why it's so amazing! Great local place and they really try to get to know their patrons. I had the Spankies Burger and told the kitchen to be creative with it. They did. It was marvelous!
