The chicken tenders are excellent. 5 'heat options' available. Staff is helpful and friendly. Restaurant is clean.. Live music on some weekend nights. Only alcohol available is a good selection of beers, however we were told that next time we can bring our own wine. Would have been 5 stars, if not for the fact they add a 3.5% surcharge for credit card payments. It's the only restaurant I've ever been to that adds a surcharge for CC payments.

Big Shake’s is my second favorite hot chicken place in Nashville. I’ve been a regular at the Franklin location for years. It is not unusual for me to plan my day around eating lunch there. So I was quite excited to see them open a location in Columbia. The food is excellent and the location is comfortable. The staff is just OK - they don’t seem all that excited to be helping their customers.

Top notch place. Our first time trying Nashville hot chicken and it was incredible. The portions are huge, food came out piping hot and was delicious. Everyone was super friendly and patient with all our questions when ordering, and checked in to make sure it came out right and tasted good.My favorite was the wings, but the legs and fish were great too. Sides were all good too, but really the knockout for us was the chicken.

Speed of service, price, location, and quality of the chicken gives it 5 stars. The max and cheese costs extra and it’s mid (it’s just okay) so I take off one star for thatTacos were bussin tho

We have been wanting to try Big Shakes in Columbia for quite a while. We love their Franklin location, and we're happy to have a location closer to our Spring Hill home. Everything was exactly as we hoped for. I had a chicken leg quarter and my wife had catfish. We both had our main dishes seasoned at the Stop Drop and Roll heat level. SD&R is the perfect heat level for us. The chicken and catfish were cooked perfectly. The side dishes (I had beans, and cornbread. and my wife had Mac and Cheese and cornbread), were delicious.I would make only two minor complaints. First, the cornbread came to our table wrapped in plastic wrap. I think the plastic wrap should be removed before serving. Second, their menu display says to pick a meat, a heat level and 2 sides. When I ordered my chicken and heat level, I ordered two sides and was told there is only 1 side with the chicken dish. The actual menu does say that chicken only comes with 1 side, but the light up display behind the counter says to order 2 sides, and makes no mention that chicken only comes with 1 side. I think the light up display should be modified in order to eliminate any misunderstanding. As I said, the two complaints are minor, and certainly doesn't affect my opinion that Big Shakes is the best Nashville Hot Chicken I have tried. Big Shakes deserves my 5 star rating.

Loved, loved, loved the Hot Chicken Tacos! Definitely will be back.

I ordered the loaded catfish sandwich with a side. For the price $10.96 it was over priced a total surprise one very small piece of fish overcooked, hard, dry, bread hard, withered onions, little mustard very dissatisfied. But the piece of fish smh not again. My daughter was the same way and had to send hers back, hard bread ,cold fries, hard overcooked fish just a total disaster. But her make over was absolutely ?. She changed to a chicken sandwich. Plus I got sick possibly food poisoning. Never again. I'll go to Franklin if I ever go again.

I'm a big shakes fan and have been frequenting the Franklin location for years. I was excited when they opened a location in Columbia as it's a closer drive and we've eaten here a few times now. Unfortunately, idk what's up or why but the heat levels here are all dramatically scaled back. For example, if you order Rambo in Columbia, its about as hot as the Cry Baby in Franklin. Executioner would normally tear me up a bit but I feel like I need to choose that here just to get some heat at all.Other than that, the building they moved into is very cool and parking isn't bad. I love the apple pies when they are fresh. Oh and the catfish here is awesome! Absolutely try the catfish. I would probably take my grandma here next time and wouldn't worry about the food being too spicy for her. But I'm just gonna go back to Franklin if I want really hot chicken.

My out of town friends wanted local hot chicken; so we checked it out. This was a surprise find. The Food was awesome, hot, fresh. The service was top notch and there was a surprise live blues band. The manager greeted us with warm friendly southern charm. The restroom was clean, fresh and up to date.Absolutely recommend checking out this place.

I usually frequent the Big Shake's in Franklin but decided to try this other location while in the area. The Columbia location lives up to the hype. The same dishes and quality one would expect from the flagship location, but in the heart of the historic square area of Muletown. The service was stellar, pricing was expected, and the food was on par with expectations. Greeted by the ordering counter and a well laid out menu upon entry, the patron will have their choice of eating in a (surprisingly spacious considering the building) dining room up a couple stairs from the ground level, or out back on a covered patio with sufficient seating. Staff even checked in on my party of six a few times to see if we needed anything to make our dining experience more enjoyable. Once again (and unsurprisingly) you rocked it, Chef Big Shake and crew. Five stars, for sure.
