We where seated as soon as we arrived. We were a party of 2. There were 3 separate groups of customers for a total 7 of us at the hibachi grill. Food service was normal to quick and the food was decent. The chef did not interact with anybody seated at the grill. When we received our check the already added a 18% tip. I was not going to tip 18% because the chef didn’t interact with us. When I asked about why they automatically add the tip the manager got an attitude. A tip is earned not guaranteed! I normally leave a 20% tip when the service is good. The service I received was no where worth 18%. No where does it state that they automatically add the tip to all customers. It will be the last time that I go to Osaka. Also they have increased their prices with out change the menu. There is a note on the door about the increase but 5 of us of the 7 missed it. It also doesn’t say how much the menu items increased. You don’t know till you get your check.
Please everyone check your receipt and credit card statement. Osaka Committed Fraud. We did a pickup and takeout. Hours later, the restaurant sends a text stating that they altered my SIGNED receipt because the pricing entered by their cashier at pickup was wrong. On my signed receipt, the cashier wrote in a $20 tip for takeout. It is not my handwriting. Only my signature. Upon calling, the manager accused not wanting to pay for all of my food and hung up in my face. I have one of the top 10 fastest growing companies and family within government- I ensure you we have had better quality sushi than Osaka. And never had I seen fraud committed so openly. Please everyone check your receipt. We will follow up with appropriate agencies on this matter. I imagine this wasn’t the first time they’ve wrote in prices within the tip, the manager did not take responsibility and responded as if this was normal. And admitted her employee did it. Shameful.
Food was great! Needed an updated menu as the prices were substantially higher when we got our bills. Hard to keep up with inflation, I understand just put a sticker or tell us up front. Took a while to get a check during lunch. Overall this is a great place just don't expect it to be super fast. Like all places I am sure they are understaffed. Staff was friendly.
The service wasn’t good at all. I’ve been here before around dinner time and everything was great but the staff that’s here during lunch time isn’t the best. The chef had an attitude the waiter didn’t take the order correctly. It was my son graduation day and I just wanted to make him happy. Probably will not return unless it’s dinner time.
Fantastic food and great service. Perfect place for a birthday!
My friend and I ate dinner at the Collierville Osaka restaurant on Thursday, April 21 and our dining experience was less than desirable. The food was good and was prepared at the hibachi grill. What bothered me was before we could finish eating 2 different waitresses asked if we were ready to pay. I’m really not used to that when dining out. Plus I noticed the weren’t asking other customers, just us. It really bothered me so I will not be returning.
When I used to travel through Memphis, my favorite sushi could be found at RAIN. Now that is it closed, I am SO glad I found Osaka! The sushi was fresh, the service was excellent, the sake was hot. The only reason I am not giving it 5 stars is simply because it needs an aesthetic refresh. It's dark and a bit cluttered. Still, that will not deter me from returning the next time I am in town.
they were very understaffed, which is understandable. but they also give you way less food now. you used to get a mountain of rice and veggies, but now you could clean your plate and still have room for dessert. that could be because of the “food supplies shortage” going on during the pandemic, however the quality of the food has also slipped. mostly everything was overcooked. on top of that, you get charged an automatic 15%-18% tip. even though you have to wait long for less food that is subpar. the only reason i give 3 stars instead of 2 is because the poor waitress still had a smile during her extra busy shift waiting on all the tables by herself. i’m sure some things can’t be helped during the pandemic, but if they’re going to charge automatic gratuity and also have you wait long for food, you should at least get a lot of food and at better quality.
Owner is horrible.. ordered lobster sushi smelled bad.. fishy…all servers including owners starts sniffing my dish..bringing into the front and several
Food is very good, big meal and this fun watching the chef cooking the meal for you.
