We just moved to TN from AZ and were worried we wouldn’t be able to find some good Mexican food. (We have a lot of authentic Mexican food in Arizona, being so close to the Mexico border.)This place was authentic. I got 4 tacos (carne asada, tinga shredded chicken, al pastor pork, and carnitas)… they were all really good!
Had chorizo tacos today from Nelas.I grew up on the southern corner of the western US. The Mexican food I am used too is authentic and the real deal. The people I grew up with made the absolute best dishes I've ever had. Today I was actually blown away that this little restaurant in Cleveland tn had such amazing and delicious tacos. The girl working was very nice and the wait wasn't long at all. The tacos man...the tacos were so good I wanted more when I was done. 10/10 guys. Please try this place!
I love this place. There are so many Mexican food establishments in my area, but when I am in Cleveland, I love to stop at Nela's. I always get the Nela's Chicken. So tender and so delicious. I recommend you stuff those tortillas, then after you eat them, take the remaining queso and remaining chicken and veggies and mix them with your rice. Absolutely delicious! Most Mexican restaurants have rice and beans to make it look like you've got a lot of food, but the rice and beans aren't up to par with the main course. No so at Nela's. The rice and beans are just as flavorful. Enjoy!
Was really hoping the food was better. Service was good . Ended up getting the carne asada and the meat was really fatty and rubbery. We had three orders of it and everyone's was the same.
Pretty great food?… we have ate here a few times. The food is authentic. They have a pretty good variety as well; from Mexican to Honduran With a little Salvadorian in the mix. To be honest I had never tried pupusas before but I wasn’t let down! Nela’s is a hidden gem. The tacos are pretty amazing. Their food is always cooked to order. This adds time to the wait, but I promise your not going to be let down! I can’t wait for the fresh homemade ice cream to start!!!
This is one of the best spots in the area. The variety is definitely there, but my favorite item was the pupusas- they were even better than the Pupuseria up the road and well worth the extra drive time. Good drink selection and when they have it amazing ice cream (the inconsistency in availability based around employee and freezer issues over 2 years is the only reason I couldn't give it 5 stars). I never had to wait more than 30 minutes for takeout, there's plenty of seating if you're looking to hang out, but regardless of which way you go I would HIGHLY recommend this if you're looking for the real deal in Cleveland.
This is authentic Mexican food and not the carbon copy of most Americanized Mexican restaurants where all the food served there tastes the same. The food takes me back to Old Mexico where the food is truly authentic. The only complaint I have is that the size of the carnitas soft tacos shrank in size since the last visit to Nelas. The current high cost of all meats has probably effected portion sizes at all restaurants. In order to keep cost down, portion sizes have diminished somewhat.I am a repeat visitor to this restaurant and will continue to visit because of the great food and service.
If you are looking for authentic Mexican food, look no farther. While most Mexican restaurants seem to share the same old tired menu with a different name stamped at the top, you will be pleased that Nelas chose the real taste of Mexico and Central America. The service was great and the food was prepared and served hot, fresh and delicious! We are glad we finally found the real deal! Highly recommended!!
It was pretty good! I got the tacos al pastor, and they were good. Their sauces are hot though!
Excellent tacos!!! Also the flautas were delicious so as the agua de horchata
