I was pleasantly surprised. When I sat down, the chips and salsa was eh. The salsa tasted like it came out of a bottle and my expectation went way down. Then the meal came out. It was amazing. The flavor and the portion size was great. Prices were average. Parking was ok. I did not have to wait to be seated. I will return if I'm back in the area.
It has taken me 3yrs to finally find a Mexican restaurant that I love everything about and I'm so excited to say I finally found it. LaAltena is the best from the cheese dip to taco salad and especially the all day 3.99 margaritas and great friendly staff who are extremely fast getting your food out to u. I give this place a 100 for sure. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.
Been coming here since they opened and never had a single issue, the food is always delicious and good quality. The atmosphere if you choose to eat inside is great and the if you choose to-go they are quick and efficient. Amazing place and glad to see they are successful.

Ate lunch there today ,ordered two Chalupa lunch plates to go .after delivery 20 minutes away ,found out they left Chalupas out of order.They gave me real hassle when I call to voice displeasure. Will not part there doors agian, please check you orders before you leave because customer service sucks!!!
Ordered the shrimp fajita. It was basically steamed. It had so much water in it that i couldn't even put it on a tortilla. I just recooked it myself in a skillet. So I had to pay someone else to give me ingredients to cook. I also ordered the spinach dip. It was an entire can of spinach with a little bit of cheese. Again, so watery that it would freeze in the winter. I understand that Mexican restaurants in Cleveland TN are actually Tex Mex. I mean, you aren't going to find handmade tortillas or a good mole. But there is still a way to do it right. And this place obviously doesn't care about serving a decent meal as much as they care about dumping a bunch of mush on your plate and taking your money. Go to El Cazador, Nela's, or Tacos El Cuñao.
We dine at LaAltena on a regular basis and have for 10+ years.I ordered enchiladas on 11-13 and these were not even in a reasonable realm of what an enchilada should be. They were horrible. I talked with one of the servers that I am friendly with and he understood and I was not mad. They fixed an order to go. When I got home these turned out worse than the first ones.My advice don’t order enchiladas.
The best chicken soup! Good comfort food. Friendly wait staff. Delicious flan, too.
